Been following the threads on the various v1.7xbeta's and was just curious what issues are currently being reviewed/addresses/fixed/tested from v1.795 before releasing v1.8 ?

Drastically reducing sub sightings is a big one too. Subs, while not being attacked as a result of the sightings very often, are lit up like Xmas trees lately (see Apollos test thread). Not only is this really out there but it just really bogs down an already "busy" replay portion of the turn.

This is an operation report from the second turn of our AAR. The first was just as bad. Must be 5-10 solid real time minutes of this endless parade of sightings.

I am glad to hear that you all are working on fixing the bugs. IMO design features or other changes MUST wait until the bugs are fixed "as best as possible".

Agreed but I view the sub spotting issue as a design bug which came once they got the ASW searches working as originally designed (way overpowered). Apparently the search routines were not working correctly initially.

Ron,

I do not disagree with your statement. I was only stressing the need to fix WITP as it is currently. Yes, if the resources are there once that is done to "correct" quirks, anomolies etc...that is great.

I keep expecting to see someone demand to be able to model adding F-14s to CVE wings for convoy protection. Which rightfully so, I am sure is beyond the scope and abilities of the program. Is this absurd? Yes, has someone thought of it...probably after a few too many beers (this is a line that MOVES).

I wandered a bit, sorry. This is why I don't post often. I just play the game.

Some of my top aces are not flying transport planes like the C-47, scout planes like the Kingfisher, and bombers like the B-25. I wondered first how a Kingfisher scored like 5 kills and the B-25 like 7 kills. Not too happy with the rotations...

Are there any plans to make changes to the data base, specifically scen 15? All Balao & Tench subs are listed as Gato, even though their respective classes are listed in the class data base.

Not really a prob, but it would be nice while selecting ships for a TF, when there stands something like "pick Yamato", when additional information would be shown up like to which class the selected vessel belongs.
It's not really easy to me to select same DDs for ASW or surface combat.

Or in the japanese Resource\Industry availibility to see how much factories will produce when they are retooled.
factories like (40) 0 are not in the list.
and factories with (39) 1 are only shown with "1" and i don't know how many still remains.

you can. when on the add ships to TF screen...right click on the ship's name, it's ASW and AA and gun/torp values will show

Yeah. The only way to work around this deluge of sighting reports is to turn off all of the eye candy, and set message length to 0.1 secs. Otherwise I start to fall asleep.

The save game crash is a simple workaround - count to 15 sec after you see mouse working cursor disappear. For some reason haven't finished its update yet, but game is safely saved and at worst a minor inconvience.

1. It does not matter how long you wait it still CTDs.
2. No application should CTD after saving, this one of the most important and fundamental aspects of any application.
3. Being a code writter I find this problem to be the most irritating aspects of WITP and WPO(which I just recently purchased). This problem has persisted since day one and continues into WPO, I do not understand why this problem persisted for as long as it has?
4. Just my opinion.

Have they done anything to enhance the LCU combat reports? It'd be nice to have the adjusted combat values of each side in the combat report along with what units were involved. Then I could turn off the animations altogether and save a lot of time.

Nice to see the continued work on witp.

But just to add my opinion on the save game issue - the supposed work around to stop it crashing of waiting never did work and still doesnt (on a new computer with totaly different hardware since originaly playing). I can go eat, chat, then come back and it will still crash at times when trying to get out of that save screen. Whatever the cause of it, it has nothing to do with time elapsed. Wish they would fix it once and for all ;p
