OK, I'm trying to figure out the AP/AK loading for engineers and base forces. I have a nice sized AP tranport TF (6 APs, 4 DDs) and I'm trying to load a 1600sized Base Force and an 800man EAB.

I select Load Troops only as an option and specify both units. My total load is 30% of my total load capacity. When I go back to the TF screen, I have 1/4th of the Base Forces and 1/3 of the EAB loaded on my APs. The other 4 APs are totally empty and I can only load them with Supply.

What am I doing wrong here?

If an lcu loadsize is smaller than the capacity of the ap, the game will generally not split the lcu to load more quickly by using more aps, especially if you are trying to load two lcus in one task force. Try loading one lcu in one task force and the other in another task force, then, if it works, just combine the two.

Other factors include how large the base is where you're loading the lcus and whether or not any ops points were expended by the tf in question.

I'll give it a try. I'm mostly loading at Noumea and Brisbane (both Port - 9s).

Is there any way to have reinforcements appear at more forward bases, particularly Luganville?

Load Rates are based on port size; i.e., Port Size (PS) 0 = 420, 1 = 530, etc...

Yup, Load Rates are actually quite well explained, that's why it takes forever to offload at Irau until you get engineers to build up the port.

It doesn't explain why only sections of units get loaded onto APs from Lvl9 ports when there is 3x - 4x transport capacity in the AP TF.

I think it's an AI glitch that Anarchy's post will help get around. Still haven't tried it yet.

Nope, physically moving them is the only way.
