How many AK do you think it's better to convert in AR at the beginning?

Having just had my fleet smashed to bits.......I can say that ARs are worth their wieght in gold in saving crippled ships.....and speeding up recovery time.....have 4 in each repair port and 2 at Kwaj, Truk, Saipan, Kendari, Manila.......then at least 6 spare to move to where you anticipate major fleet actions........

That means about 80 AK to convert...

And what do you think about AS, AE and other types?

You don't need to do them all at once....start by converting 14......and then drip feed more later......

AS for same bases(not the HI ones) listed above but I only put one per Base....start with 8

MLEs are a must........Again same bases and 1 in the north to Mine Paramashiro....again 1 per base
...and just keep mining....start with 8....

I must confess that I do very little with AEs......so someone else will need to fill you in on those

This is what I do....doesn't mean it's right.

Yeah, you need to weigh up the need for conversion with the need to actually be able to transport things. Don't go overboard (so to speak)...

ARs are more important due to their ability to counter the overly soggy progressive flooding model. I don't know about converting 80 AKs though...that seems a bit whacky.

AEs don't bother, they have been completely mis modelled in the game.

ASs and ADs maybe a few.

To clarify my earlier post.....I meant the major Ports in the HI........

An example would be my game with Speedy.....

I have 32 ARs, 18 MLE, 24 ASs(some of which I started with)....in fact the first ship I lost in the war was an AS

ADs can´t be converted as Japanese. Unfortunately. Anyone know why?

I suppose they did not have any historically. But, then again, that did not stop the "invention" of the MLE from the fantasy land workshop.

Playing as the Allies, I figure 4 ARs at each of the following ports:
Pearl, San Francisco, Bombay, Brisbane, Sydney, Darwin, Karachi, Melbourne plus two "forward bases" (support for whatever offensives are underway).

That's 40 ARs total.

Well...usually Allies are not short of AKs after few months, so one can convert quite a few. 4 ARs on every major "repair port" with AD and then several "forward repair bases" (those without repair shipyard). 80 ARs is bit too much maybe...but over 40 can be definitely useful.

The Japanese start the war with 3 ADs. They can't build any more. Too bad. I like them to help repair my upgrading DDs. I keep one out and about and the other two I keep in one port in Japan that I use as my DD upgrading port.

Historically the US had 90 AR's at the wars end.
