The game started with as many surprises for IJN as it did for USN. First of all, I expected Japanese to go for Naga, and that's where I massed out my troops... wrong. They went for Lingayen.

The submarine successes of June 2, 1922 were shocking to both players. Considering that this version of Cautionaries has WPO 1.2 dud rates built in.

Some things never change though. Once again O'Kane with his 91 aggressiveness is the first skipper to have his submarine maimed. After all, what else could be expected? He attacked 9 brand-new IJN DDs in plain daylight...

Given that Dick O'kane would be 11 years old in your scenario, I guess we can chaulk his hyper-aggressiveness up to his young age and total lack of experience !!!

*cringe*

I knew there was something fishy with such a detailed lineup of leaders... I'm finding the same when it comes to transports - e.g. AP West Point hasn't even been built yet!

1.8 of Cautionaries will see the following APs that actually did exist in 1922.

Henderson
Argonne (not at AS yet!)
Chaumont
President Grant
George Washington
Munargo
Fuller
George F. Elliot
Heywood
Southern Cross
Orizaba
President Pierce
Hunter Liggett
U. S. Grant
Wenatchee
Chateau Thierry
St. Mihiel
Republic
President McKinley
American Legion
Stratford
President Cleveland
Hawkeye State

I'd actually wait on modding the transports for a while. The "super patch", for lack of a better word, is going to change quite a few things. In addition to adding full French and Russian navies, the transport system is getting a complete overhaul, with the generic AP/AK/TK being replaced by Troop Transports (which are differentiated by tonnages), Cargo Ships, Freighters, Tankers, Coastal Tankers, Tramp Steamers, Small Cargo ships, etc. Don't have a definate list of the new classes for it, or what ships will be assigned to which class, but it is basically going to be rebuilt from the ground up. Instead of large, Medium, and small, they will be ordered by c5000 tons, c10000 tons, and c15000 tons. Also various designs, sizes, and possibly liners will be added, along with small coastal merchants and fishing boats to round out the area. The AK class will be all but gone, with only a relative handful being large enough for conversion. Something on the order of 30 perhaps. APs are now going to be the dominate ship type.

Also, when I post screenshots later this week, I'll note some new devices added and shifted around, to make room for the new US Light Cruisers (Pensacola and Northampton, built in their original designation as large light cruisers), the French navy and also the Carrier Bearn and her squadrons of six different shipboard aircraft types, the various French and possibly Russian land based aircraft, and the British A, B, A class Leader, Amazon, and Ambuscade class destroyers.

Just letting you know, since you might have to do some reworking of your mod. And as a modder myself, I know the hassle of changing something to where you want it, then changing again to bring new patch features in.

Also, though I am not definate, I am considering reworking the Land Unit OOB, replacing the Squad based device with a Platoon based equivelent (i.e. a Platoon will consist in evvect of the load cost of 3 squads). Not sure yet, but it is a possibility.

Then of course on top of this will be the new production on scenarios, which will be the perfect merger with such a radically changed merchant marine.

So lots of new stuff in the works for the next month or two.

It may be too late but I'm going to try to throw IJA troops at Lingayen back into the sea. Let's see what happens... My troops are already at Clark, short of a cavalry division straggling behind.

If you're going to throw them back into the sea with SS-111, you'll probably need to land the landing party ! I wouldn't count on being able to sink all of them at sea !

IJN's BB Satsuma and DM Nokaze sink.

Wake Island base force proves to be useless even in detection of incoming forces; an AK lost as a result.

Assault at Lingayen fails as it's defended by 10 times the troops intelligence reported. So much for coastwatchers.
