For all you non-Army types......

When a company is in formation, the soldiers are in platoons in a row with a platoon sergeant in front of each platoon and the 1SG in charge of the company. After all the administrative stuff is done, the 1SG brings the formation to attention. The company commander walks to the 1SG to take command of the formation. They salute and the 1SG moves to the rear of the formation. After they salute, the commander yells, "post" and the platoon sergeants move to the rear of their platoons and the platoon leaders move from the rear of the platoons to the front.

Just bringing back memories. It's been about 3.5 years since I had a command.
