Yeah, that was good one. In Polish version of this joke Brazil played against Poland :)

Well actually Costa Rica played much better than Poland...

Q: With whom Polish football team will meet at second stage of world cup finals?
A: With Polish spectators at Warsaw Airport...

WTH is Soccer?

What Americans call football, because they have another game called Football (with rather less justification!)

As far as I know, the World Cup has never been called the "Soccer World Championships" by FIFA.

Actually "soccer" was originally English. It was an abbreviation of Association Football. It just fell out of favour in England.

Things are even more confusing here in Australia because there are four codes all vying for the use of the term "football": Rugby Union, Rugby League, Australian Rules Football and world football.

Cheers, Neilster

I hope Croatia gets a draw at least.

What about France vs Suisse ? France lost Djibril Cissé, France's best scorer of the qualifications, during a preliminary match against China... of all countries. It's not like Henry and Saha aren't better, cause they are, but nobody runs like Cissé. So I wonder if France will be able to perform. On paper, it's certainly one of the best teams.

well, Croatia is wierd team - i would not be suprised that we get a draw but screw things against Japan... eh...

as for France, on the paper they are certainly one of the best teams but i got feeling that this team is history and they won't achive a good result.

so, my bet is draw (1-1). But i'm well known as poor prognoser....

As for France I agree Pauk. Some great players - Henry is a god IMO but they are past their pomp as a team.

I personally feel Croatia aren't the same as 10 years ago. They should quality but I doubt they'll get much further.

yeah that's my view too. But then again if we qualify for the next round and our most talented player Niko Kranjcar start to play soccer like i play WITP (that means brilliant) everything could happens.

Unfortunatly my second favourite team didn't qualify - Ireland. Same with Scotland. I guess i will have to cheers for England when CRO loose - if Sven doesn't screw something

(like promoting David James as first goalkeeper)

Well, we had a Swedish national coach for a few years, too... I think it's some sort of conspiracy by the Swedes to ruin other countries' teams...

Damn, what a game between Australia and Japan. Three Aussie goals from the 84th to 92nd minute, after the Japanese scored in the 28th minute... That's what we likes to see!
