Does the download version of Harpoon 3 have a online activation procedure?

Or is it a simple serial number that doesnt need to "call home"?

The reason I am asking is my friend is asking me to do the purchase/download for him (he doesnt have Internet access).
I dont want him to run into problems when he goes to install it and it has to activate over the Internet.

Simple serial number, no online activation necessary. What you are planning should work just fine as long as you print out and bring the order info with serial number to him so that he can type in the serial number when asked for during the installation.
