Update: CHS scenario version is now 2.07. See later post in this thread for fixes. At long last, the next version of CHS is now available for download - CHS 2.01 (an update to 2.00 has already been uploaded). CHS ("Combined Historical Scenario") is a scenario that is intended to provide a more accurate OOB and TO&E data set, along with some additional ships and aircraft. The scenario comes in two parts - a "base" package and scenario files. The base package contains all of the scenario art and documentation (such as it is). The scenario files contain the scenario data. Note also that CHS is ONLY playable using my alternative WitP map (extended version). The CHS components are available for download here: CHS Download page. NOTE: There is a serious fault in the base package - the Aptop.bmp (Allied plane tops) file is rotated for some reason, and does not work properly in the game. I have provided a corrected file on the above web page that must be downloaded and installed separately. A fixed "base" package will also be available soon. This time round, there are a few different versios of the scenario, due to problems representing the Soviet Pacific Fleet, and to the addition of variants of the scenario with different air-to-air combat mods. The different variants available are: - Soviet Navy variant. This variant is designed to be played by PBEM, or playing as the Allies against the Japanese AI. In this version, The Soviet fleet is present from the start of the scenario. This variant can ONLY be played if the Game Option "Automatic Submarine Options" ("Auto Sub Ops") is NOT used, as the AI cannot properly handle a Soviet fleet.
- No Soviet navy variant. This variant is designed to be played by PBEM, playing as the Allies against the Japanese AI or playing as the Japanese against the Allied AI. In this version, the Soviet fleet becomes available around the time of automatic Soviet activation (450801) and not before, even if the Soviets are attacked. Note: CHS is not really designed to be played with an Allied AI, due to difficulties that the AI has with some of the new island bases that have been added to the scenario.
- Modified A2A variant: This variant has modified scenario data similar to that used in the "Nik Mod" by Nikademus. Specifically, the following data changes are applied:
* The endurance values of all aircraft are increased by 50%. * The effect rating of all AA/DP weapons has been increased by 50%. * The accuracy ratings of all air-to-air weapons has been decreased by 50%. * The maximum speed value range has been compressed by halving the difference between actual aircraft max speed and a centre point of 350 MPH. - Experimental A2A variant: This variant has modified scenario data similar to that used in the "Nik Mod" by Nikademus, but with some additional changes. Specifically, the following data changes are applied:
* The starting experience values of all Allied pilots has been decreased by 10%, except for USN pilots. * The starting experience values of all USN and Japanese pilots has been decreased by 5%. * The Zero bonus has been removed (this is compensated for by the larger reduction in Allied pilot experience). This variant is UNTESTED and EXPERIMENTAL. use at your own risk! This variant may also change, depending on the success, or otherwise, of these modifications. Scenarios are available with a combination of these variants. See the CHS web page for details. Many many thanks to all who have contriuted to CHS development, past and present. The scenario owes its existence to them. Extra thanks to Spooky for hosting the base package file(s).
