I'm almost a week into the regular season and I have yet to see any stats for my minor leagues.
When do minor league players start accumulating stats?

It takes a week or two for the minor league stats to start and then they're updated every week or two.

OK, here's a question.  How exactly are the minor league stats accumulated?

I would assume that when two major league teams play each other, their respective minor league teams "play" simultaneously as well.  But since (typically) each level of the minor leagues lacks a full roster, is the rest of the line up made up with some kind of "generic" player in order to accurately generate results (with the "generic" player's results not being accumulated anywhere), or does the game generate minor league results in some other way?

Just wondering.

I'm guessing the numbers are randomly generated based upon ratings. I could be wrong though, the manual doesn't really go into the details.

I stumbled across this thread from a year and a half ago while searching for an answer to the exact questions raised here. I see that no final answers were given. So I'd like to ask again.

Are minor league stats meaningful?

Are they randomly generated? Or are they the result of simulated games played between all the players of all the teams at that particular minor league level?

Will minor league players with good stats tend to do well if promoted, and will they tend to do better than minor league players with poor stats? (I say tend because I know that in PS, like real life, nothing is for certain.)

I would appreciate any insight any of you may have, even if only from experience. Thanks.

DZ

I don't believe that anyone has yet figured out how the minors work, but here's my take. Stats matter when determining the proper level a player should be in, i.e., if a youngster is performing exceptionally well in A ball, you may wanna considering bumping him up to AA.

As for AAA, I THINK you gotta look at the player ratings. If a AAA player is at major-league rating levels, then yeah, he's probably ready.

Remember, though, that developing minor-leaguers can take years, so the age/potential development must be taken into consideration. That being said, it's all basically a crapshoot, as it is in real-life.

I always refer to the stats for promotion. I start everyone at A and montior their stats. If guy gets say 100 ABs and he's hitting mid to high .300s, time for a promotion. I have found this system works great for me as the players seem to progress very well with their ratings. One thing to note however is to not keep tomany players of the same position at the same level. It seems to deter their progression. I try not have more then 2 players of the same position at any one level. Pitchers however are a bit different as  have ad as many as 3 or 4 starters and notice much of an issue. Put too many relievers together and I have noticed them be affected. Hope this helps.
