I need a picture of U.S. troops fording a stream or crossing one on boats. I've been looking around, but these pictures seem to be a rarity. Could you point me to one? It doesn't really matter whether they are G.I's or rangers or paratroopers for that matter. I just want them to be infantry crossing a stream or a river.

Anybody?

Excellent pics!!!..Can you see the 2 rifle grenades already set up in the first pic?
Also note in the 2nd pic you can spot the guys who have never seen any combat yet...
(Hint, it's not just the clean uniforms)..

yup........And the one over the edge of the boat which would damage the furniture of the rifle with every move, is pure sacrilege!

In combat ready-sling position, the rifle may be slung under the left arm, barrel down with the left hand holding the barrel furniture, so if taking fire, the rifle is brought forward, the right hand takes the trigger housing mechanism and group area, the stockbutt automatically going up against the right shoulder, into firing position. One fluid movement which may be done as you are falling to terra firma, the ultimate firing platform.......

They do not appear to be ready for any immediate contact. One soldier looks like he is looking at his canteen or something in his hands.

Yeah...and at the far shore in the background is another boat, so this one is not at the front of this formation..Perfect position for an ambush, out in the open, with no cover, nor expectation of action........
The firt pic however is probably a group of all vets..(single shoulder sling, and the tail end guy with the blanket is classic..(That's a lumbar support when they break from walking.)
Notice all canteens on the same position on the belt.
One guy has his map case pulled over toward the left.He removed something from it while they were moving....Right hand was holding his rifle...Good troop..

Then the second photo must be of an administrative crossing, or an example of how not to cross a river while in an attack!
