So I was playing Operation Jutland yesterday against Elmer. Fun scenario. I invaded, pushed the Soviets down the peninsula, and then setup a defensive line while I sent lots of other troops to amphib assault Copenhagen.

I surrounded and eliminated most of the Soviet units on the peninsula on the way down, and then, because of the stockpile being available nearly 100% for reconstitution, I'd kill more units coming to get me, and the reconstition was happening so often, that I couldn't advance any further down the peninsula. Just waves of tanks rolling straight into my line and being destroyed slowed me down.

I recall at some point years ago that units that were out of supply wouldn't get reconsituted if they were eliminated -- did I read this wrong?

I recall this happening in TOAW:ACOW also, where playing East Front scenarios like Operation Bagration, I'd spend lots of my time surrounding and eliminating German forces, which worked great for local superiority, but they'd always come back.

So should I bother to elimination enemy units, or just keep them weak, leave those divided and weak units on the map?

Which units reconstitute and which dont is set inside the editor, it doesn't matter how they are killed, as long as they are flagged to reconstitute they will eventually.

If you encircle a unit or cut it off from supply, all it's equipment will be destroyed should the unit evaporate, a supplied unit on the other hand will send part of its equipment back into the on-hand equipment pool upon it's evaporation.

So keep encirceling those units, sooner or later there wont be any equipment left for their reconstitution.
