For what its worth to you Andrew Brown and the others that have contributed so much to CHS. I just accepted surrender from Japanese (CHS long campaign).
This CHS (solo) campaign scenario played from November 2005 to June 23, 2006 and
was saved (game saves) well over 220 times. Game date of Surrender was Oct 24th 1945. Game ended in marginal victory for allies. I used 3 day turns.

Japanese AI never advanced past Batavia in DEI, lost every carrier they let sail further east than Tokyo Bay, and lost pretty much exactly the way it played out in the real one, except I had 2 nukes at the end but did not use them. I captured the northern Phils, Formosa , Okinawa and started to take Iwo Jima. That (Iwo Jima)was the straw that broke the back. Don't know how they did it but the British and Indians turned it around and had captured Burma back from the Japanese before they quit advancing. I was very impressed with that part of the AI compared with the plain jane India AI from my previous marathon campagn.

Whew! for now....

Thanks for the report! Very interesting. You've progressed a lot further in CHS than I have!

I did play CHS1.06 with my own added sub radars to Jan 1 1945 where I achieved 2-1 autovictory. Was quite interesting, indeed. Was able to keep both Java and Timor. Weirdest part was that I was able to keep Hongkong too... I guess somehow resource centers never stopped producing even when enemy was in same hex, since I never run out of supply. Started under 1.6, continued under 1.77Beta and then ended with 1.801.

Yes, I spent a lot of time early on, moving ABDA land units to Timor in order to do a ABDA (Alamo) last stand, but the Japanese never made it past Batavia as I mentioned.

Just started CHS 2.04 campaign against IJ AI and Hongkong fell Feb 2 1942, so that seems to be OK now. I wonder if it was some patch 1.6 problem. Singapore fell next day too.

Those damn IJN subs are eating my tin-can ASW ships (PC, PG, MSW) alive near Townsville... I wonder if there is an easy way to adjust their crew exp at least to 30s. They seem now to have exp of 10-20, especially at night. That is about same as not ever sailed during night.... But then I know I can cruise them around to achieve 45 exp so it's bit moot...just annoying to lose little ship after another to IJN subs...

Anyhow, just had interesting surface raid to Tarakan, shows what allied TF can do with decent TF commander even during night:

I like the experimental air-to-air and AA model quite a lot too.
