I was looking into picking up a strategic Revolutionary War game and came across these two. I know For Liberty isn't out yet (due July 4th) but it is based on the free 1848 game. Anyone have any experience with either of these that could lend some advice on which they prefer?

Thanks!

I downloaded the free 1848 game and enjoyed it very much. Not incredibly challenging, but lots of fun. I'll probably be buying "For Liberty" as a result.

Birth of America is an excellent game. The one thing that it lacks is a detailed tactical combat resolution since it is done automaticly. It is very detailed and considers many factors in determining the victor, but it is still autocalc. It is a definite buy if you like the era. It also includes the French and Indian War.

For Liberty does have tactical combat resolution and this is why I am interested in it. It also includes a Hungarian Revolution game as well. I checked out the 1848 game and it seemed very promising. I think the inclusion of tactical combat in For Liberty will make for an excellent game. I do plan to wait until I hear some feedback though.

Yeah, if they could just add a bit to the tactical side somehow I'd be there. Game demo is artistically beautiful and intuitive.
