Hello,

New here and I have done a search on this without finding anything. What exactly do all of the ball flight locations on the gamecast represent? I have got the general gist of it (i.e. 7LD stands for a long double that is hit to left field).

Do the XD's stand for the homeruns?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Go to: Retrosheet Ball Flight Locations

Click on "Event Files"

Then click on "Hit Location Diagram"

I have now seen the following twice. What appears to be a ground ball goes to 5DF position on the chart, but the text reads, >enter batter> pops out to short. Anyone have any idea why this would occur?
