could someone please provide an update on what the status is of this new update that has been in the works for nearly two months now?

I am not asking for a firm date or anything like that, but, some insight into what's going on, how goes the testing, ect.......

also, anymore information on what all the new update addresses beside the new play development system.

Yea - and I'm working to improve my golf game too.
But just like MF I think it is a lost cause.

The lack of response by DW and Matrix is really piss*ng me off. Believe me I WILL go on a crusade to see what can be done about these people if nothing is updated soon.

There is a legal option here that needs to be explored about now.

Legal action?  On what grounds?  Try reading the EULA of ANY software you purchase.

For a second point, consider the following scenario.  When a kid asks his parents for something the parents don't want to get them, the kid has two options; accept it and wait for the parents to change their mind, or pester.  Pestering rarely works, all it does is upset the parents, who end up punishing the kid.

I'd cut you a check to reimburse you for the game if it banned you from the board.  Use the one or two brain cells you have and think for a minute...how fast do you expect one person to write, test, and fix code?  You can't run a marathon in 10 minutes, neither can DW add/fix everything he said he would fix in 2 days.

The more time DW spends answering posts, the less time he has to work on the game. I wouldn't use the word "never" either. He doesn't answer all my posts that are directed towards him, but I don't take it personally. Could you get a personal audiance with the president of the U.S or the Canadian PM? That's what he here essentially.

If he doesn't answer, that usually means the answer is elsewhere, or its a question other people are capable of answering. Don't take it personally.

I just like to keep the updates in a single thread here;

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1166485

It should probably be stickied so people can find it easier.

Is it that they can't be or that you choose not to accept those answers.

David answered twice in this thread.

David posted it twice.

Barring unforeseen problems, I'd have to state that Release 3 is in the "real soon now" stage. I know that sounds ambiguous, but there are other things going on with David, Matrix Games, and some of the development crew, and that means no firm date is available.

Testing is going well. Although it won't look like it at first, there has been many code changes, and that meant a lot of days testing some pretty small things that can be major headaches if they don't work correctly.

Here is a list of some items that have been worked on for release 3.

PDS 2.0 is complete for Release 3. It has been integrated into the main program.
More of the game is now part of the main game rather than external tools.
Many small bugs that caused stat problems or game errors have been eliminated.
More rules have been set to game mode (American, Indoor, Canadian).
The schedule creator has been updated, but the full update may not come until Release 4.
Team profiles (draft and player composition) can now be saved and loaded.
There have been updates and changes in the defensive AI logic.
Defensive teams now come out of the huddle into man coverage assignments.
Defensive audibles are now updated and working.
The sim mode has been updated. This is still the quick mode, but it works better.

In addition, new standard and optional playbooks are in the works by dev team members. We hope they will be ready for Release 3.

Excellent. Great work guys...

I like Mauraders statement that...

Then only question I have to ask concerning this, and don't get me wrong, I'm not pestering for a release date, but I've kinda held off createing any more plays with PDS 1.0 because I've been thinking that Release 3 was going out 'immenently'  (my choice of word, not anything I've read or quoted). In your opinion, Marauders, is it worth creating more plays with PDS 1.0 (seeing as, from what I've read, 1.0 plays aren't compatible with 2.0), or is the launch of R3 close enough that it wouldn't be worthwhile?

I'm still using some of my old plays in PDS 2.0 but some of the plays just needed tweaking. I would stick to offensive plays tho because most of the changes we're made on the defensive side.

I wouldn't create any plays with PDS 1.0 at this time.  The defensive plays have some logic changes and the PDS 1.0 offensive plays may have some players line up in their formations incorrectly.

In fact, some defenses that were included in the game for Release 1 will not be available because they were in the game to cover some AI logic problems.  The AI is now better, so those plays are no longer needed.

I actually updated most of the plays in the Fun and Gun playbook while PDS 2.0 was in the works and I had to scrap what was left after most of them were overwritten when I did an update that overwrote my updated playbook.  Note: if you change plays that are in the release version of the game, rename them or save them as an export file.

My new playbooks are being written from scratch in PDS 2.0.  I am also setting up a bunch of offensive formations so plays can be written easier by novice coaches.  I hope to get these in for Release 3.
