He starts vacation soon. Unless he has a laptop things will be quiet in that quarter.

You start a new job (next week?) and things will be quiet from your corner.

Robert, Mike, Mynok and I are going to be busy upholding the supremacy of the thread for a while.

Funny Story:

My wife just recounted this story to me:

Now retired, she used to be a Med Tech, and started her career working 3rd shift at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia.

One night, she was back in the Lab when this obviously drunk chick comes running down the hall for the doors at the back of the lab. Seeing that the doors opened onto a pitch black scene, the drunken one reverses course and runs down some nearby stairs. Shortly thereafter, Jean (who would eventually become my wife) heard “all this commotion”.

Almost immediately, some policemen come running down the hall, and ask “Did you see where she went?” She pointed to the stairwell, and by this time the police could locate the woman (who had escaped from Radiology after being brought in on a drunk driving charge) by the string of profanity.

Shortly thereafter, the police dragged the miscreant back past Jean. The drunken one was cursing a blue streak, and the police weren’t very happy either. The chick had run down stairs and out the loading dock by the kitchen - and had fallen into a vat of grease waiting to be picked up for recycling... Of course, it had been sitting around for a while, and was quite rancid, and smelled horrible.

The woman was now handcuffed, dripping with globs of grease and slime, and the police were dragging her down the hall, trying to simultaneously keep her under control and to keep her away from their uniforms. She was screaming “Police Brutality!” and the police replied “Lady, this isn’t police brutality - and you’re lucky we don’t beat the sh1t out of you1!”

About this point, the drunk stopped walking, so the police dragged her down the hall, leaving a trail of slime... She was cussing a blue streak, to go along with the streak of grease leading back towards the Emergency Room.

Although Jean was VERY amused, for some reason the policemen were not.

You have obviously never been in an American hospital and had to eat their food.

Why was there a vat of grease at a hospital?

Big kitchen cooking for c. 500 patients and hundreds of staff and visitors! Sort of like why there was a big vat as grease in Bart's school, except i suspect it didn't take the Hospital as long to accumulate a recyclable amount.

Said vat was outside on a loading dock that the drunk managed to find while trying to escape.

There is no doubt my new job will take up a lot of time. I will have a laptop with that though so if i'm on the road or abroad hopefully I can still do some stuff. Turn and forum time certainly decrease though

Well, it is more quotable!

This incident was back in the mid-70's, and i don't think they were quite as "fat content" conscious as they are today back then...

I learned then if the scrambled eggs were cut into cubes don't eat them. After that I had the rice krispeys.

I was 18 then, but I was lot happier when my parents brought a milkshake, burger and fries in the day after the surgery.

U.C. never was much of a beer

Plus with the stuff I was on for about 48 hours after the surgery, beer would have not been a good choice
