I apologize in advance for the long post...I am still exploring the game and as I do I seem to be stuck on this concept. I am doing a historical replay and if I choose 35 man rosters that will elimate fictional players from the minors. But doesn't that create a problem the following year when, for example, 7 players made their debut so one could not draft/sign them (affinty mode is on) because that would put you over 35 players.
If you choose 50, then your historical replay will have fictional players scattered about. I even went in an changed the ratings on them to 2 Contact, 2 Power and they still got in...and did fairly well, odd with the numbers low. But this would allow you to add the 7 players that made their debut the following year.
So is the bottom line a choice of two evils? 35 allows no fictionals, but won't allow to add all the real rookies, up to the 35 total that is....or go 50 and have scrubs but room to add all the players from the following year?
Finally (whew)...if using 35 would this eliminate lopsided trades? 2 for 1 3 for 1 because that would put you below 35?
Thanks again for the help

If you add all of the real rookies, some of them will end up as free agents with the 35 man rosters or you will have to cut 7 players to get them all on your team.  Affinity mode doesn't automatically put the all of the rookies on your team, it just increases the likelihood of the computer drafting them.

If you do multi-player trades you need to sign a free agent.  There are plenty of free agents available.

I've been using the 35 man roster because I prefer to limit fictional players.

thank you for the help once again....having to stick to 35 really does handcuff you a little in terms of being flexable. And the alternative 50 is not a compromise because of the fictional players that are added. Wish there was some wiggle room in the middle. Have a 50 limit without the stipulation it has to filled up all the time. That way in historical replays the real rookies could go to the real teams with the new space added without having to cut anyone. Lopsided trades could be made without having to sign a free agent to bring the roster to max size.
All in all a solid game, don't want to sound harsh, and thank you for clearing this up for me.
