Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and his government formally resigned earlier in the day, paving the way for Jaroslaw Kaczynski to form a new government.

Actually I wholly disagree... Jarosław Kaczyński is the leader of party, and he has much stronger personality than his brother Lech. Jarosław is the leader, and President Lech Kaczyński is in shadow of his brother.
PS. [a joke] Poland is the only country which have a backup copy of her president.
PS. They first appeared in 1962 in film "O dwóch takich co ukradli księżyc" ("The Two Who Stole the Moon") Trivia: Which one will became President, and which one became a Prime Minister?
unfortunately Przemcio's feeling are not unjusticed they won elections by promising things that can't be done and they are strongly backward looking with no idea where to lead country :-( they are leaders of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ( PiS) what is translated into Law and Justice but their program is from Populism and Socialism also PiS too long to write about but next 4 years will not brings as as close to EU standards as I thought

That is not the problem. They won the elections because they had NOT planned to take from poor and give to rich like their opponents from PO (Platforma Obywatelska - Citizen's Platform).
The biggest problem is that they are representing catholic-right-wing.
....and we don't have anything else like right- catholic wing even post comunists are church positive + there is no liberal party in Poland (PO is just in centrum ) funny political enviroment all fight by showing their piety and good will to help poorest by taking from 5% middle class

All problems are that in Poland there is no middle class. Some are enormously rich, rest are poor.
The funniest thing in Poland is that there is no left-wing. Even SLD (Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej - Alliance of Democratic Left - with main member of alliance SdRP as inheritant of Polish United Workers Party, ie. Communists) is acting as a liberal center.
Well in Poland we do not have left or right becouse every one is licking Catholic Church A** this is humiliating... well i would love to live in a normal country when you are not robbed by the State with gives your money to some drunkers or uneducated morons having 6 - 7 children!!! I say if some one is dumb enogh to have children when unemployed that is his problem ...

95% in 1st tax bracket - to poor to be in middle class 4% in second tax bracket- this is real middle class but not really up to european standards - inly in polish one 1% in third tax bracket - net society sponsors considering their contribution to the system and what they take from it
there is left wing - SLD is no center party and it have never been as well as PO is not liberal there is nothing on liberal wing since UPR times sorry Monter but I see it this way - i'm in upper tax bracket and don't feel rich :-)

Yeach the funny thing is that most of those Extreme Right Politics like LPR , PiS are telling the society that Poland is a besieged country and every one wants to steal from us and if any one try to do something that the Church don't like they scream that the times of the PRL are back or something...
And the truth is like this that the only one stealing around is Catholic Church and some Politicians's...

Believe it or not, many, many are frustrated here in the US as well. We see megacorps buying off the political parties and no other parties can get on the ballot with any regularity thanks to the Big 2's control of the ballot entrance requirements. I won't even vote for a Democrat or Republican, which means I haven't voted in years.
And now perhaps we have put the final nail in this thread's coffin!
Przemcio I don't really care about ideology / religion if sb's faith is strong he can spend his time and wealth this way i'm interested in strong cabinet with professionals supporting it in parliament Goverment able to solve main economical problems and give good conditions for country in long run hunting ex communists 16 years after its fall is not main polish problem i recognize as they are not a threat to the democratic system. I'd like to see economy expanding with fiscal policy easing as it is only way to lower unemployment and make people satisfied
i hate when sb loose time of electors and solve only popularity problems ( buying certain social groups with state money) and it is problem in last 8-10 years and escalates
Well your right sneer i don't care if some one is Catholic , Protestant , Jew or Muslim that is his choice and his life but i care when state gives money to teach religion in public shools , when state gives money to build churches , when state gives the church land for free , or when hides crimes of priests before public!!!

for outsiders yes ... but when you are close ... it is not funny sometimes me and my friends think about living in another country quite a lot of Polish decided to work abroad - 5% of whole population in 2 years - maybe even up to 10% of all workforce many of them will not return as there is little incentive and they are often educated and easily adapting , something that is really needed in our country otherwise each new government will be worse as rest of us will have to pay for strange ideas

It is obvious that SLD cannot be left-wing because it does not make any attempt to behave like true left-wing party. Only left-wing party in poland was named as I remember Unia Lewicy or something, now is Racja Polskiej Lewicy.
My personal feeling is at first let the poor eat, only after that let richer buy yachts..
Also main problem of Polish political scene, that despite different parties, ruling politicians are the same. Politicians often changing parties is nothing unusual in Poland. So is the reason that programmes are virtually the same. We can choose betwen many center and not liberal not conservative parties.
