I am wondering how many of the PureSim players have PaintShop Pro on their PC's and if they do would be interested in having templates to create their own fictional players using the facegen demo. I create my own players and was looking at creating historical templates (mainly the caps and uni colors, text on unis is not seen due to the 65x90 size and my preference to have more of a head shot). After the templates are created it only takes about 1-2 minutes to create a player so for new leagues it takes some time but after the initial draft it is only needed for the new rookies each year. I am planning on having Home, Road, Alternate and BP unis for all the teams from 1900-Present but only if there is an interest in this.

The template is a forward facing template with players having hair and mustaches, beards and a few other goodies. I was looking at doing MLB but then looking at doing some generic dead ball uniforms. Example would be a deadball era lt gray uniform with a Maroon cap for the St. Louis Maroons (things like that because other than STL Cards most teams did not have anything on the cap).

What I was looking at releasing is a uniform template, face template, facial hair template to fit the faces you create in facegen. But if there is not an interest in this I will still make templates when I need them for my own use and place the players I create in a photobucket account for others to download....

I was looking at having the faces that I create availble in time. This way with the templates and the faces you can put a player in any uniform you want. I like this because even if you use the same face 10-20 years apart, having the player in a different uni gives him a different look.....

Looking forward to any response, good or bad to this idea......

Regards,

Steve aka nomo ootp

If I release these as I do them would you most be interested in them being release by era? Like if I had a Deadball era first or modern. I guess I would like to know what unis would you want first???? If I wait to do them all and release them at one time it would be a while (weeks not months, but eras can be done in days, not weeks)..... Also if I need to create all the faces this can take a while, if you use the facegen program you can do your own to your quite quickly with the instructions I am planning on releasing with the templates.......

Also would you want the faces already done so you simply just do a build on your player or do you have the facegen program (free) and want to create your own faces? I will supply the hair templates and instructions of course....

I'll get the link for facegen if anyone is interest.....

How do you use this Face-Gen- Modeller? The above link is to a demo that will not allowe you to save the generated faces. The registered program is nearly $300.00, which is very steep for use with a game. Granted that is likely not what they deisgind the program for.

To use the facegen program all you need to do to have a program like HOVERSNAP. It is a memory resident program that captures the screen. I have a faces directory that I put the screen capture in and then I open the capture in PaintShop Pro 9 and go from there. Simple process - create the face, hit the alt-print screen and then just continue this process. I can capture 50 faces in about 10 minutes.

Another annoying thing is that the FG program puts a "SI" on the forhead of the players. There are skin files in csamdefault folder named skin_med, skin_hi and skin_lo. All you need to do is to open these files and using a smude tool in any graphics program blend the "SI" out of the image.....

The procedure you provided above works, but how do you make the hair. There appears to be only one "Doo" available.

There is only the one hair style available in facegen. I have straight forward hair templates and I also use bobbles hair templates from the OOTP board. The only problem with bobbles set is that it is angled. I take the hair and make adjustments to use with straight forward templates. This is something that I can email - but I would need to get bobbles permission, which should not be a problem since he published the templates for use on the OOTP board (with no conditional use for strictly the OOTP community )

Just a side note because of the limits of the picture size in Puresim the templates that I am creating for actual MLB historical teams will only include the Jersey at the shoulder (no logo) and the headshot with the cap( with the logo ). I just got off work and was swamped yesterday so I only have a few franchise done. There is also about 20 different backgrounds with the template. Will post the set with example pics as I move along a bit more..... I also have a Template that is right angled view (Blue Turfs original template) but I modified it to have over 70 different fictional uniforms. They are jersey type uniforms but all are softball looking (mesh jerseys, different colors, Pastels etc....) I may release a fictional set of this also......or again I may release the templates with the instructions. Down side to these are there are no hair templates but I do use the standard black, and i have a brown and blond hair example that I just paste on the head to change the players looks...... works like a charm. More to come when I figure which sets to release first......

If there are users that create the players with the templates, when they are released, it would be nice to save a copy of the head and the face created if using hair templates and keep them in the PSP file format so that these can be zipped up and made available for anyone. This would allow others who can not create the faces to at least create their own players if they wanted to play around with the templates.....

I was looking at 1913-Present myself, and then later to do a deadball set. The uniforms of the early 1900's and the late 1800's did not have an image on the cap and had a lot of silly stripes and such, with the uniform changing on a yearly basis. But uniforms became somewhat standard around 1913. Buttoned Jersey, rounded neck, Jerseys remained pretty similar until the 1960's and then it was more pullover type jerseys, and then replaced by the V-neck style in the 1970's......
