Started with 1972, had the second-best record in either league, but unfortunately, the Twins had the best and they were in my division.... dang it... So, my Oakland A's had to settle for watching the playoffs.

Fast forward to 1976. After revamping the team, especially the offense, I thought I would have a good season, and I did. My 92 wins were 4th best, but again, I was a bridesmaid. Boston had 93 and KC, in my division, won 98.

But, interesting enough, I had top 3 HR hitters in the 1976 AL.

Mike Schmidt 52
Willie Stargell 41
Jim Rice 39

I kinda like my offense with Schmidt, Stargell, Rice, Reggie Jackson, Fred Lynn, Dave Parker, Manny Trillo, Larry Bowa and Sundberg. On the bench, I have Pete Rose, Ron Leflore, Dave Kingman, and Davey Johnson. Lot's a pop.

Well, here's looking forward to 1977!

Anything left for the rest of the league?

How is it you didn't put together a 120 win season??

Must be my pitching :-)

I did allow for expansion and I really haven't done any trading. I paid alot for free agents, plus I drafted a lot of these guys. I had some lean years before 1976, but now it's paid off. 1977 I won my division (105-57). The funny thing is, I tried the unattended autosim option up to the start of 1977, at the start of the 1976 playoffs, and I didn't realize that it would do EVERYTHING for me up to the start. I didn't get to draft or sign free agents myself. Maybe that was a good thing...LOL!

I started with 1972, did 9 trades in 1973 and have not bothered trading since.

For the most part, I am simming the association so I can see how many career HRs Mike Schmidt will end up with :-) It has also allowed me to simply play around with a few things to get my feet wet. I expanded before real expansion, I didn't enable the DH until this season, I didn't know about the sounds, etc.

I probably should not do the GM handling (trades/free agent signings), although it is a lot of fun, but when I know what the future ability of players are, I am able to wait through the lean years (simming) and wait for the powerhouse team to show up.

Basically, when the next official non-beta patch shows up, I think I will scrap this and start over but give myself less ability to build a good team :-)

But, this has been a very enjoyable game so far for me, well worth the price. Unfortunately, I will never recover from the lack of sleep...LOL!

My first set of playoffs and I will manage each game. Should be fun!

Schmidtie - can't wait to see him enter play, and I'll be hard pressed not to want him over on my Orioles.

OK, after Brooks retires I'll get him.  I'll give up the farm for Mike.
