Where did everybody go?

They didn't tell me where they went.

(he turns around and goes home with a sad look on his face)

Arrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh!!

Above is quote from Robert.

OK - back on New Year's Eve, while mowing the lawn, i ran over a fawcett head out in the middle of the yard.

Since then, there have been three more pipe breaks...

We got the pipe break from last night repaired today.

Four hours later, we have a geyser in the front yard.

We can't get up with the plumber, so called our neighbors to ask who they used. They said THREE other neighbors had their water mains burst today.

ARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Okay now I know where Robert is. Is it copper or PVC? It sounds like there might be surges in your water main. There is an accumulator you can put in your line to deal with this. Unfortunately, I had a plumber do mine. (I am not real thrilled about soldering with a blow torch.)

PVC.

Most of the problem i think is that the water pressure is WAY too high. Someone claims it has gotten so dry around here that the soil is shrinking, causing pressure on the pipes, which then rupture.

Robert;
An accumulator may still help you. They put it on the supply side on your side of the meter. Here in Florida, when they put in a new meter, they are also putting in a check valve that prevents water from going back into water supply. Unfortunately this can mean pressure spikes on your side. The accumulator gives a volume of space for this spike to go to lessen the pressure spike.

Yes. It is the first time I used it.

OK - i must be confusing it with the other "smiley" you like...

No. Now I am just playing with different smilies.. I did not mean to confuse you.

You know... A metaphor for how to get through a large, seemingly insurmountable task...

"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time, and keep on chewing..."

I think that it is simply a case that sumfink has stuffed up.........it's not like I would do sumfink to anger the forum marshalls now is it? Though I am miffed that I have not had any emails answered yet. It's kinda like going to work and finding that your pass no longer works and your desk has been cleared.

Here is something that i am surprised Nik has not taken up with his girlfriend's cat...

NOTE: No pugs were hurt during the making of this clip. The notes at the end are pretty funny as well...

This is peculiar (and distressing) - i wonder if the new avatar had sumfink to do with it...

Money pit update:

Plumbers say that the line that was put in is not up to code (and i can well believe that, seeing some of the other %&**& stuff that the builder/previous owner did). They claim that the main water line needs to be replaced - at $$.$$/ft - with a run of about 200-300 feet (i'd guesstimate).

Wife is calling around to get other estimates... but meanwhile, we have no running water...
