As for releasing it: are you people nuts? There's over 30Mb worth of files! That's not just something you put out over the PM system.

I thought you might email it to us.

I have one-full length modded scenario, one Downfall scenario (currently on developmental pause whilst I try to figure out the Japanese LCU problems), and one Aleutian campaign scenario in the earliest planning stages.

Toing (tm)

I didn't know you were working on an Aleutian campaign. I looked into doing that about 4 months ago. My plan was to do one historical and one what if (the japanese had made it a major offensive). I had a lot of trouble finding OOB information though. The Allies didn't publish much info about the campaign at the time as the US didn't want it known that Japan actually was on US soil.

If you need any help with the mod let me know. I would be happy to assist.

I'm only going to do a hypothetical one, because there quite frankly won't be much for the Japanese player to do (except run away) if I go historical.

I'm not sure I want to implement the planned IJN response to the US landing on Attu, however, as this would be a death sentence to the US ships there. The Japs were readying a lot of ships, including the Musashi and two other battlewagons, as well as (IIRC) both the Shokaku and the Zuikaku for a counterstrike. The US had three old battleships and one, count it, ONE escort carrier up there.

And a US naval OOB has been relatively easy to put together, once I found this little gem:

Sure, if you don't mind losing two or three CVs for no return. I seem to have a knack for it. I'm not quite up to Rroberson ability, though.

I think that is where I had gotten most of my information. I was having trouble with the US LCUs. Of course, I had never done a mod before, so I don't know what would be an accepted fudge level.

After having a lot of trouble with the LCUs for the US, I decided to shelve the project as getting the data for Japan seemed next to impossible.

What is going to be the hypothetical basis for the game? Is it going to be an extreme what-if?

I think the Aleutians could be a great what if scenario. The weather in the area makes CV battles problematic and your almost guaranteed to get some great surface fights.

No dice. Its Mid June and I have all my CVs still, except Hermes. I plan on waiting until Wasp shows up to loose them all in a blaze of glory.

Not extreme, no. The difference is that the Japanese decide to make a fight of it, rather than evacuating.

It is now 1/30/42 and I have just lost Palembang. It was that darned BB bombardment group that did it. It claims to have caused 900 casualities. Oh well I still have Kendari. I am going to try and bombard those guys.

Is this game hopeless, or should I keep plugging away?

Nothing is ever hopeless for the Allies that early in the war.

Its guerilla war in the DEI. Its my fav theater early in the war. Those wiley Dutch throw everything at the Japanese including the Kitchen sink - no, really, I think they put wings on a couple of kitchen sinks and called them fighters.

There's tons of fun to be had. I once spoiled an invasion of Java with only a sub and 3 DDs.

Make sure that you pick a few bases to defend and muster your defences around those bases. If you can consolidate all those garrison forces they can be a real headache for Japan.

No, that's not where it came from...

You know, I think we'll change the paradigm here. For every instance of somebody here trying to go up The List through insults, etc., they'll actually move DOWN The List instead...

Gee, I guess I'll be at the very bottom then.

Incidentally, doesnt that pretty much invalidate the entire concept behind the aforementioned list?

Graycompany is a Marine (IIRC), he doesnt wear shorts. And even if he does, theyre probably made of kevlar.

Ah, those handsome and fun-loving Danes! Never a dull moment when they are around!

(This is a list test. It is only a test.)

One's got to admire their brave Viking ancestors...It realy took some courage to sail all the way to Africa in those days...

Big deal! So they got lost going to a wedding in the next village over.

I work in logistics, buddy. I see people repeat that "feat" several times a day.

Bah, carriers... Who needs 'em? I've had an actual battleship battle off Kuantan, where the Yamashiro and the Trafalgar sank each other. Yes, I lost a BB, but it was fun to watch.

What in the world is a Trafalgar? Wasnt she a BC that the Brits never completed circa 1919 sometime?
