Please rank the following for me:

Whats the most important factor when deciding to sign and/or trade for a player?

+ Player Ratings - actual ratings of player like Contact, Power, Control Stuff, Etc.

+ Player Statistical Performance - Stats of the player like BA, runs, hits, ERA, WHIP etc

+ Player Statistical Trend - Compare stats from the current season to the previous season. Is the player on an upswing, downswing, or consistent?

+ Player Statistical Longevity - Has the player put up consistent numbers year after year or is the player streaky?

I would think + Player Statistical Performance - Stats of the player like BA, runs, hits, ERA, WHIP etc is the ,most important.

The rating thing is hard to firgure out because it nevers displays his true rating because there is so many hidden rating that will affect his stats.

It depends upon the age of the association.  In the beginning, all you have to go on are ratings.

It changes over time, as stats are compiled and ratings changes come into play.

What are you looking to do, Abev, create a trade value add-in or are you just curious?

An add-in would be VERY difficult to do, for the reasons stated above.  When it comes to trades, I look at all of the relevant factors and make my best judgement.   Rarely, a guy who excels in just one ratings category (say, a high CONtact rating for a pinch-hitting specialist, or a situational defensive replacement)  just can't be judged in the same way that an everyday player's value is weighed.

I still rate the 'Ratings' as the single most important factor in my decision - but I don't rate it as the only one, and will definitely give performance/statistics a fairly heavy weight.

I have something very ambitious up my sleeve I am just looking for some opinions on how to rank various aspects of evaluations. Not sure if it will actually work until I finish the addin. Not so much for trades, more for evaluations.
