What do you think, It will be a new game WiP 2 or not ? With new enhancements like free building of new units as e.q. in HoI and others tweaks not posible in current WiP.

If there is, it will be a separate product.  Not a free upgrade.  But I wouldn't exactly hold your breath.

I thing if it will be a new game with new scenario (chinese campaign in 1938?) and few new features and if will be sold at half price of original game (similiar to HoI2 and HoI2 DD), then this approach can bring up lots of new players to this game. I not sure with numbers, but I thing DD have cca 60% of original sales of HoI2 and still increasing and before end of year, sales of DD can exces sales of HoI2. And lots of players have booth HoI2 and DD (including me).

And HoI is infinitely less complicated, not to mention balanced on a knife edge, than WitP. The two games can't be compared at all...

At least an expansion with some tweaks and improvements seems reasonable to me. This game has still lots of players. The community is one of the most active on Matrix forums. IMHO it would be a commercial mistake to let this game fade away.

Bye

No doubts about that, but I think it's better to take care of this game, then create vol. 2

I pay money for evolution.

The name of UV&witp is immortal.

If witp2 goes out.
It wants it in the place where it is Europe.

Mayby someaone can create pool to vote for addon/new game:
a)yes, I want addon
b)no, I don´t want addon, only bugfixing current game
c)new game in WWII era, but different location (Europe or other)
d)new WiP2 with bugfixes/features N/A with current engine/code (e.q. torpedoes issue)

I think GG and crew read Shattered Sword with all the emphesis on elevator cycle times and said "We can model that!@!" Now the Zero bonus will include faster folding wings

Well I don't think it's weird particularly. Many people have expressed a desire for more control over carrier ops. Carrier Strike (or whatever it was exactly called) looked like it did that when I played around with it.

I do somewhat dread to think what might come of mixing the two re-hashed and ancient code bases though

Only if some staff officers and a personal adjutant are included. Imagine how long it would take to set up turn 1...

Not really, 2by3 seem to like recycling old code. World at War has just been recycled as "A World Divided", Bombing the Reich is already being recylced by another team, and thinking about WitP still induces nightmares, so the obvious one to recycle is UV.

Hey, you play it as Real time - one day in game - one day in RL.

Do we really need more carrier games? They've suspended development on WitE to do this... That's what's weird...

I for one don't want World at War 2 or UV 2, I want a new game on the UV/Witp engine. I don't see why a med game (aka bomb alley) couldn't be done with a re-vamped UV engine. Matrix is not just re-hashing old games now it seems that are letting the developers re-hashing the newer ones. Pretty soon there well be nothing left but re-hash of re-hashes.

I would love to see a MED based game. But I think it was stated almost two years ago that this will not happen. To bad because I really like the MED theater of OPs.

It's all about money.  We're an active forum, but an active forum doesn't mean money in the pocket.  Nor does patching old games - we're lucky they take care of us as well as they do.  Making a game as complex as WITP has got to take a lot of man hours, and you've got to prove that these man hours will be made up for with very high sales.

I'd love to see a Med game as well, but NOT in a million years should it be based on the WitP engine. Said engine should never ever be used for any new games ever again.

True wisdom coming from the land of the often-vandalized, fequently-stolen mermaid (okay, so she's not really a mermaid. It helps my fantasies to think of her that way).

Fresh start, folks, we need a fresh start. Problem is, everything will now be area movement based on the CoG (not interested) or GGWaW (definitely not interested) system.
