Some Notes on ANW - 7/31/2006 6:42:16 PM

I picked up the upgrade last week and played quite a bit over the weekend. Here are some things that come to mind:

- I use a Dell laptop with a USB keypad. Only the +, - and Enter keys work on the keypad (making it only useful for time compression - which is a blessing because that's the one I use most). The FCN key activating the keypad works.

- I had several Navigation errors (as noted elsewhere in this forum) in a number of DB2000 scenarios. This is fixed by changing course randomly then replotting. There's a patch coming, right?

- Weapon launch profiles. There is NO place in the user DB to find out what the launch profile for a weapon is. It's very annoying to sneak up on a target and find you can't launch your ordnance without testing medium and high altitude to see if there's a launch restriction you have no way of knowing. Actually DB2000 has an online data base that has this info but it should be imbedded in the game.

Otherwise the game has played well and been very stable. Excellent work! Can't wait to try it in Multiplayer!

Having some trouble connecting to a server. Is there something I am missing. The screen for MP comes up, but the "waiting to connect to server" msg sits there forever and it never connects.

You'll have to specify which server you want to connect to. You can do that by using the Harpoon 3 ANW Configuration Launcher. Of course someone needs to be hosting the server for that to work.

Cheers,
JP

This problem has been overcome in the PlayersDB. A weapon's Max / Min launch altitude is available to the player without the need to open other utilities in the background. No need to come over your target only to find that you are at the WRONG release altitude!

P.s. now that you play ANW, does that mean we are not going to get the third and final scenario to accompany your excellent Harpoon Classic Prelude and Allegro scenarios?

Welcome Aboard, Shipmate!

Database designers could also look at adding this information to the weapon text descriptions:

In the HUD for example Weapon ID#586 - Kh-25MP

Launch Alt. Min:40m - Max:20000m
Launch Spd. Min: 0kts - Max: 660kts
Russian air launched Anti-Radar Missile system.

(HUD-3)

The coloured text above would append itself to the weapon database view screen in H3. Here's what it would look like in game, sorry this was rushed just to validate, needs formating.

Here's a possible properly formated version of the weapon's added launch parameters

If you want to test a server setup, HarpGamer has their server available for a few more days.

Check it out on this thread:

H3 Multiplayer Server up

If you need some help, you can try to reach someone on mIRC or pHp chat rooms:

HarpGamer pHp chat room or the HG mIRC chat room.

Welcome to the world of Harpoon 3 MP, shipmate!

You can take screen shots by either:

1) Alt+F1

Or,

2) Select the drop-down menu PC and then select Grab Screen

The images show up in C:\Screenshots folder.

Or,

3) Alt+PrintScrn [This copies the screenshot to your clipboard]
4) then Paste this image into a visual program like Paint, IrfanView, etc.
