This After Action Report will feature the Wallies against the Russians starting in the summer of 46' and ending in the fall of 48' if neither side has achieved victory at that point. Although this is a preset stand alone scenario it can also be played after a successful campaign against the Axis with the current forces and territory remaining in place from the time the Axis surrender!

I'll be commanding the Russians and Sgt Rice will be in charge of the Allied war machine. The Russians move first but I'll spend a little time detailing the start and victory conditions first.

In the preset version Yugo, Greece and Turkey are balanced neutrals and are each worth 1 strategic point (SP's). The far east contains another 4 points, 3 controlled by Russia and 1 for the Japanese capital, now controlled by the Wallies. The mid-east sees Persian control divided between the combatants and contains 4 strategic points spaced out from iraq to India. The lions share are located in Europe with both East and West Germany counting for 2 points each.

At the start of the scenario the Wallies are in the lead by a few points but Russia moves first. Both sides are trying to attain 25 SP's at the end of the opponents turn to achieve a decisive victory. If the game goes the distance 22 points will earn a marginal victory, any other result would be considered a draw.

I wont post starting Security, Signal Intell or Spy levels in order to maintain a veil of secrecy here. Spies wont play a major role in this conflict other than spotting enemy territory or intelligence/production/technology levels, but Signal Intelligence levels either way could swing the balance of the upcoming battle results as each unit rolls for a combat bonus and that roll is adjusted by each sides current SigInt.

And now on to the conflict at hand...

Starting unit totals.

A little background in present technology levels will probably help here, the Russians have the upper hand with armor and the Wallies naval and heavy bomber assets dwarf anything the Russians possess.

Russian armor is 10/9 compared to the Wallies 8/8, infantry are both 8 attack with the Wallies having a one point advantage in evasion at 7. Fighters are the same levels as infantry but the Wallies have double the range at 4 movement points. Tac air and arty are even but the Heavy bombers for the Wallies are at 9 land attack compared to the Russians lowly 4.

Russia summer 46

Stalin displeased with current divisions of the spoils of war orders a full scale assault on western Europe. Knowing the Wallies are scattered between both the Pacific and European theaters plans are put in place to swarm over American and British forces as they sit unprepared for further conflict in Germany and Austria.

After Russian air units clear forward airfields of American planes ground elements from Hungary and Checkosolvakia move in to secure Austria.

Even though air superiority isn't achieved a full scale offensive is still lauched. Crack Russian tank units win the day and the Wallies abandon West Germany !

With the bulk of the Wallies navy still off the coast of Japan the Russians leave most of the forces that moved in to occupy land previously controlled by Japan. Other than sinking a couple transports there is little action in the east.

And the final piece of the puzzle sees Russian units prepare to sieze Norway to secure its northern flank.

This ends the the summer for the Russians, a successful first strike sees a flip flop in strategic points with the Russians now ahead 18 -14 and if we can break through into France and Italy and push the Wallies from the continent Stewie will no doubt be heard to say " Victory is mine! "

The Bolshevik hordes have inflicted heavy losses on the sons of the West ... especially troubling are the serious casualties among our fighter wings; the veteran Eighth Air Force has been decimated.

Our main counterattack comes in the Far East ... the remaining P-51s from Japan lead the way as TF58 bombers hammer the Russian airfields in Manchuria.

Followed by "Inchon" on a grand scale ... MacArthur leads the Army and Marines ashore in a daring flanking invasion that cuts the rail link from Vlad to Moscow.

Then the hopelessly outnumbered western armies leave France to the tender mercies of the barbarian horde, withdrawing into strongholds in Norway and Northern Italy.

The same cant be said for the far east as troops are dispatched to quell the foothold the wallies gained in the summer.

In the middle east the Russians pour more units south to try and create a third front. 2 more SP's within range would put us at 26 and force the wallies to attack where we are the strongest.

In the Med, Churchill convinces Truman that the Turks need to get off the fence ... so they give them a push. Air/BB attacks eliminate the Turkish shore batteries, then the main attack goes in ...

at this point my screen capture utility started giving me fits, so I'll have to tell the rest of the story.

The second battle of Gallipoli was as resounding a failure as the first! The WA assault by four infantry corps with massive naval gunfire support is stopped at the waterline by the Turkish defenders. Churchill's govt fails the vote of no confidence in Parliament; a furious Eisenhower fires Montgomery and sends Patton to take charge in the Med.

The three corps assigned for the invasion of Western Turkey are redirected to the Bosporus and succeed in a second invasion, clearing the way for US BBs to clear the Soviet navy out of the Black Sea. HBs from North Africa stage to Istanbul and commence destruction of factories and rail lines in Rumania, Bulgaria and Southern Russia.

Where are you Timmeh? I've been waiting forever you to play your turn. Now i have tried to be patient, but 2 weeks, come on, you know thats just ridiculous. Anyways I'm just looking for entertainment so please try to take time off your busy schedule to play your turn. Btw, this is basically the only reason I registered. Apparently you have no intention of playing so I'm not gonna force you to play (I can't) I'm just gonna ask you politely.

Sigh! sorry to disappoint Roybum. Six weeks of the hell here with work didn't allow more than the occasional browsing of the forums and virtually no free time to play/test the game Things have been back to normal for a couple weeks here now TG!

Being close to release and not expecting any major changes I'll see if I cant get another AAR going.
