Actually, I believe that it is a russian DSHK 14.5 mm AA gun.

or for those of you who use imperial, .60 cal.

I thought during WW2 the Dskh was mostly an anti tank weapon?

Actually, I was wrong, the DSHK is a .50 cal (12.7mm).
This is a KPV .60 Cal.

Yes, it was used as a dual role in the early stages of the 2nd world war, as both a AA and a AT unit. (also worked in the anti infantry role as well)

So far we have:

- unknown 25mm AA-gun
- 12,7mm DShK AAMG
- 14,5mm KPV AAMG

Which one is it? Or is it something not mentioned yet?

The debate continues...

I do not believe it is a 12.7, looks way to big. It could be the 14.5 I havent seen many pictures of them or any in real life. But I think it is bigger than that.

Hehehe...

Ok...

It is 12,7mm DShK MG with AA-tripod! Originally it was made for AA purposes, but widely used on other areas as well.

This picture you can find for example here:

My godfather taught me as a proper saskatchewan redneck and said that the .50 is about as thick as an index finger, and eventhou theres a flashdisperser and muzzlebrake I think I can see by this pic that the gunners finger would fit into the bore!,,,, Don't think my finger shoots a 600 and some grain lump over 2800 fps  thou!!
Had enough of these poping at us while peacekeeping in Croatia, Canada uses a .50 m2 H-barrel on a toboggan in winter, and its hallarious to fire it without pinning it down because it will slide u back 3 feet for every 5 round burst!

Rats, I guess I should have gone with my first instinct, which was the DSHK. . .
I guess thats what I get for second guessing myself.

Mind you the KPV and the DSHK are very similar, just diferent bore size.

I found a pic that looks like that, but cannot figure out how to attach it.
(Also the reason that I thought KPV)

Second quessings are the ones I was warned in school (Although sometimes they are right, too).

To attach a picture you must click "Post Replay" and then You'll see a separate box where to write. Just below the writing screen you'll see "Click to upload!" Click it and upload the picture. Then click "Embed picture in post" to make it shown immediately, as my pic was.

Very nice pic Nighthawk! Thanks!

It looks almost like DShK. Same producer? Or a copy perhaps?

Ruin, the KPV was designed to be fired with the wheels down.
It was designed mid war, as a infantry anti tank machine gun.

Korpraali, I am not sure if it was the same manufacturer, but you can
see why I had initially changed my thoughts from the DSHK to the KPV.

There are very slight differences between the two.

Mixing with Quiz, I think...

Ah, I really don't need the easier point, as you can see from one of my earlier posts, if I am in error, I will correct myself.

IE, the mistake between the DSHK, DSHuK, Both 12.7, one semi auto, one auto, and the KPV 14.5.
I had originally classed the DSHK as 14.5, but corrected myself a couple of posts down.

Besides, I don't mind being proven wrong, (I found that pic of the DSHK as well.)
