I had a pitcher who spent 15 days on my roster in 1968 appearing in 6 games pitching in 14 innings. In 1969 he went 21-9 with a 2.78 ERA. He didn't win Rookie pitcher losing to a guy who went 12-11 with a 3.14 ERA who made his debut in 1969.

I'm wondering if my guy didn't win because of his appearance in 1969. According to MLB rules he would've still been a rookie in 1969. How does the game determine who is eligible for rookie of the year awards.

In PureSim, "rookie" means "no prior appearances at the big league level."

So, anybody you bring up for a September call-up is no longer a rookie (if he plays at all).

You are correct that MLB rules specify some minimum number of IP (50?) and AB (150?) which do not 'cost' the player his rookie status; I would like to see that implemented at some point.

If implemented, however, it should be either optional or have a slider that can be adjusted by ab's or games or something. That way anyone who plays shorter schedules can still choose.

tbear - I was expecting Shaun would do what he's done for all other minimums, which is scale by season length. So, more accurately it shouldn't be "150 AB", it should be "(150 AB / 162) * games-per-season)"

Do the rosters expand in September?

No - that's one of the most frequently 'asked for' features, currently; previous items which have reached the level of popular support that September-callups has garnered have been included in the game... but I'm not Shaun, so I can't make any promises!
