OK I shot down about 200 enemy aircrsaft losing about 300 myself not terrible given his pilot xp.

I am rebuilding all sqns and basically just waiting for them to reach 100% ready. When they are I will transfer them in to take out his AF.

In addition I am now prepping for the assaults on Gili Gili and Buna I have to assume KB is nearbye so I will be very carefull.

I am considering re raiding near Palembang just to annoy him.

P40N's are available soon which will boost my Airpower a lot

OK Guys things have been a little manic for the last few weeks so my AAR's and my play has suffered a little. I will try to give a comprehensive update of the last few weeks now.

Operations against PM went off successfully I lost 1 CVE but it was worth it I managed to land enough force to take PM and landed about 20k tonnes of supply.

Assuming that KB would be closing (correctly as it turned out) I decided to withdraw my Carriers and abandon the Gili Gili invasion until I can gain air superiority over PM. This has proven remarkably difficult to achieve.

I have lost about 400 fighters trying so far against about 300 Japanese. Why is this well 1. My Corsairs were not ready to be committed en masse and Spitfires, Lightnings and Warhawks cannot compete with 60xp pilots against Pauk's 90+ veterans in Jacks Tonies and Tojos.

The last attempt at gaining air superioirity resulted in about 80 losses on each side and I will be ready to try again in about 5 days.

Next time I will have 60 Corsairs, 100 P38's and about 50 P40E's.

Once I regain air superiority my next target is Gili Gili

Andy

Airfield is open again I have transferred in 150 fresh fighters to contest the air over PM.

Another even exchange rate would be good.

I dont expect to win this time either but in 3 days 2 more Marine Sqns will arrive at Brisbase raising my F4U tally to 108 for the next and final attempt.

I have pulled my air out of China my losses are just to great.

I May have to pull everything back to Chungking soon I dont want to as it concedes defeat in China but Pauk has managed to conquer most of China and will kick me out of my blocking position.

No action over PM for two days I have moved a reinforced PT Boat Gp into PM from Cooktown total 24 Boats in 4 Sqns to replace the group destroyed on Pauks last bombardment run.

I have a 5 DD Sqn in ports as well and over 150 fighters on CAP.

I expect another attack any day now.

Interesting Turn Pauk came back to PM I lost 60 he lost 47.

Thats ok though as I can afford the pilot losses.

I am unloading another 48 Corsairs at Brisbane when repaired they will be committed to defend PM.

In China its over the Kunming line is broken and I will try to withdraw to the Chungking line

Well the plan is still working I am attriting his elite pilots and more and more fighters are arriving on scene to make it harder for him.

As soon as the 48 Marine Corsairs are repaired I will commit them to PM as well.

I need to start thinking about next moves as well with KB intact a move up NG is difficult an attack in the Marshalls is a real possibility.

Its a possibility but only once Hellcats are on line cannot risk it at present.

My whittling down of Japanese pilot quailty continues losses are heavy but within acceptable parameters the key is to keep Pauk fighting over PM if I win it outright he will stop fighting if I retreat he doenst lose pilots I need to keep the balance where I can kill his top pilots while it doenst matter.

Not to strong not to weak thats the key.

I had 4 fast AK's doing a speed run for PM last night they all got through althouh 2 were heavily damaged.

I reckon 5 days and I will lower the hammer on Pauk and end the campaign I have had a good run killed a lot of pilots and weakened his pilot pool but I am almost ready for Gili Gili so I need to get KB out of the straight.

I would also like to get Buna and Dodobura  operational ASAP so I am going to try and fight it out for another few days then end the campaign

Things continue to go well I am killing more pilots so I have withdrawn my Sqns for a couple of days to recuperate.

I need to keep Pauk interested in fighting over PM every day that we fight makes him think he is winning in fact every pilot I kill is replaced by someone not as good !!!!

I will wait a day or 2 then send the fighters back in to contest the air

He could do it he would need to send in BB's as air wont get it done but he could do it.

If he does so be it with the engineers I have at PM now he would need to hit it every day to keep it closed and I have 3 other little operations planned that will prevent that.

1. Gili Gili/Buna
2. MANDALAY
3. Marshalls

Yup thats right folks I have started 12th Army crossing the trails towards Myktinia if Pauk wants to play great land war in Asia then I will happily comply.

I was going to try a seaborne assault at Ranbgoon but on reflection why bother taking such a risky move when Pauk seems happy to rampage accross China.

So its Mandalay/Rangoon/ Tavoy/ Bankok and Singapore or bust !!!!

I was wondering at the condition of your airfield on PM. Is it heavily damaged?

If it is, how is it affecting your air battle over PM?

For example, on 3/19/43 you list three air attacks on PM for 9 Airbase hits and 173 Runway hits. (This sounds like a lot to me.)

On 3/21/43 you list 3 more attacks for 4/87 hits.

On 3/26/43 you list only one attack for 9/39 hits.

On 3/28/43 you list an attack, but no damage to airfield in post.

On 3/29/43 you list one attack for 12/51 hits.

On 3/31/43 you list an attack, but no damage.

I believe you are doing one day turns, so there may be more damage being done that is not listed.

Is the airfield being repaired as fast as it is being damaged? you have a ton of seabees there?

The other advantage you have defending the skies over PM is that you may lose planes, but your pilots have a better chance of surviving to fight another day. I think he needs to give up trying to knock that base out of action and be defensive over his own bases.

Aye I know I have lost more planes than Pauk but I am willing to bet he has lost more pilots

I doubt he will be back I think that battle is over !!!

OK it is time to consider next moves

KB is loitering around so it will be difficult to attack Gili Gili unless I bring the whole fleet out to play.

My main battle fleet is currently at Sydney waiting for a time to strike

Forces in the Gilberts are readying themselves but I have a shortage of good infantry units for attack at present.

I had about 8 US Divs of which 4 are now at PM that leaves 4 more currently at Townsville plus the Aus Army.

I would like to keep th Aus Army out of the fight if I can in order to have it ready for the assault on Malaya around Christmas 43 but this may not be possible

I could try hitting Marshalls while KB is attacking PM or launch an attack in the Bay of Bengal any thoughts ?

I could send a Division over the Owen Stanleys to attack Buna and Dobodura by land while at the same time sending a further 2 Divisions to attack Lae via the Kokoda trail.

Would be relatively risk free and really annoy Pauk (he HATES my low risk attacks )

Hmmm options options

OK the last few days have been interesting I am still losing a lot of aircraft and its a weird feeling to be in April 43 and losing more aircraft than the Japanese in every fight.

PDU allied to ground attack pilot training is a blody nasty mix I dont know how its going to affect the end game but I have to say its worrying me at the moment.

I will say that I am not sure I would be overly quick to agree to allied restrictions (like 2E/4E) in future PDU games my experience in the PZB game and now this one paints a very nasty picture of what is to come.

Having said all that I am considering lots of attacks !!!!
