RHS v4.44 upgrade for all scenarios posted on SendSpace and avail at RHS Web Site

changes

This is an update with respect to Japanese production.

It also corrects a number of pointers - in the main in Japanese
coast defense fortification (vice the mobile coast defenses done
yesterday) - and supply depots in those same locations.

Otherwise a few other pointers and eratta are addressed - chief
among these that Alor Star is not a port (although there is some discussion about this among Matrix, Andrew and I - I am convinced
a river pier is not the same thing as a place for a capital ship to dock).

RHS v4.44 PWHEX file posted at Send Space and avail at RHS WEB SITE

changes

This revises some hexes and hexsides in Malaya,
Sumatra and nearby waters. It defines the land for
Great Natuna Island. It reclassifies Alor Star as having
land hex sides in all directions. Some of the problems
in the Kra Isthmus are probably corrected by this file.
It can safely be used with any game in progress -
and in fact with any art (a fact Cobra discovered) -
although it corresponds with Cobras RHS art.

RHS v4.45 PWHEX file (Alor Star changes) posted at Send Space and available at RHS Web Site

changes

This file goes in the top level WITP folder. It should also go in the
SCEN folder.

It should be installed at the same time the newest map art is installed - the map art with the words Alor Star in the title - Map sections 5 I think
(Plural because there are two - with hexes and without hexes).

This file corrects the routing of the rail line from Singora to Georgetown through Alor Star. Alor Star is moved one hex to the NW - so the route
is different.

The same art adds the name of Great Natuna Island to the map.

Both this art and this pwhex file are associated with unreleased
scenario versions 4.45 - which will upload in about two hours.

RHS v4.46 PWHEX file posted on Send Space and avail at RHS WEB Site

changes
While there is no RHS release 4.46, this pwhex file is later than 4.45,
so it is numbered accordingly. Actually, pwhex files do not usually matter - you can use them any time - in any version of any mod. The only issue is coordination with art.

PW hex goes in the top level WITP folder. It is also put in the SCEN folder - but it is not clear if it is used there?

There IS a minor art issue with this pwhex file. The East coast rail line of Honshu is all secondary line - and the northern end is shown as main line in the art. This file converts the line to "road" = secondary RR - and the art is not yet in sync with that.

I also converted some small islands to atol status. This was already done in some cases. It limits what can be on a base in the hex. It probably also helps "open" up the hex to sea movement - presumably code "knows" an atol is mostly sea.

This pwhex file mainly addresses coastal hexes in the Strait of Malacca and near Borneo and in the Solomans. Checks of Sakhalin Island found them all right. A few hex sides are changed - that is almost an art - and I try to make them line up properly and match the art as well as represent the real map - as much as possible.

This edition is done mainly to help the pathfinding routine - separating land from sea by coast hexes.

I'm lost in trying to download the files to play the RHSCVO with all the most current RHS changes/additions.  I hope this is right place to surface my questions. They refer to the official RHS site.

Does the RHSCVO include the Economy R.H.S. Solution or is it a separate scenario?

In the Map Updates there are two (of the 3 updates) that are modified just slightly before the two Digital Map Files on 8/19/06.  Are these needed or are they already included in the Digital Files?  One of these is the Japanese Rail-Road update.  I assume that the Alor Star update is needed because it is subsequent to the Digital Map files.

There is a reference that some in the Handbook that some files at Spooky's site have later dates.  I don't think that means that the modified date is later only the posted date.  Am I correct here?

I am sure I will have some other questions.  If this isn't the correct thread, please direct me to the proper one.

RHS v4.61 PWHEX file posted at Send Space and avail at RHS Web Site the art update is avail in the Map Scection RHS Web Site

changes

This is different from 4.46 only in respect to a single hex - the Nanao pinnensula of Honshu - which is downgraded to trail.

The downgrading of the East Coast RR of Honshu - and this change - are in the newest art released by Cobra.

Rhs V4.46 update for all scenarios posted at Send Space and avail at RHS web site

changes
This represents mainly corrections and refinements to 4.45 level.
A volunteer reduced the land orders of battle to spreadsheets which
were then used to make some changes - not all of them errors.
Many Allied units - and some Japanese ones - have additional small
weapons - mainly machine guns. A formation was added to each side to reduce the amount of tracking the code must do of unit models.
US infantry "regiments" are now different than US infantry "regimental combat teams" (in artillery attachments and motorized support for it).

Associated with this release (but not tied to it) is a revision in map art for Honshu. The rail line along the East side is all secondary, and the Rail line on the Nanao pinnensula (finger sticking North of the middle of Honshu) is now trail. While it really is a road of sorts, it is constrained and this is a very rural area - even today. There never was any rail line, much less a primary one. We could have made it a road - but I consulted and this was the verdict.

There are device changes - particularly CPS - 1 radar is now only producing 1 after 7/44. And changes to upgrades for Japanese air units - so you have more options - and to help AI.

ok what can I say - I slept in

RHS v4.47 all senarios posted at SEND Space and is avail at RHS WEB Site
note there is new art to go with this release avail now at web site MAP Updates look for panel 5 Trang

changes
See 4.47 thread on the forum for a description of this update.

Basically, this implements a number of cosmetic and techincal
corrections so that, at long last, 4.4x is suitable for testing in
medium term games. A number of order of battle corrections
are implemented for support units and Japanese regiments and
brigades of the Army sort. Many units change names - including
the use of Yobieki for "Reserve" in IJA units - and many suffex
changes - to make units static. From now on "fort" either means
"fort" OR "static" - although mostly there is at least one real CD battery in a fort. When not the term "base fort" means "static base force"
and the term "industrial fort" means "static industrial unit."

RHS v4.47 PWHEX file posted at Send Space and avail at RHS Web Site

changes

This was done to make a Thai airbase "inland" - it IS inland - surrounded by mountains - not a place you can hit by sea.

It also extends the Ganges river up one city.

It also adds impassible mountains to Borneo.

It also reviews the Eastern part of the DEI - and corrects hex side mismatches in the Strait of Malacca.

It goes in the top level WITP folder. It MAY be changed at ANY time - even during a game.

RHS v4.48 micro for all scenarios posetd at Send Space and avail at Web Site now

Important note Sid sent out a v4.49 instant fix for location files - I got this befor rollout so rolled back into v4.48

changes

Mainly eratta, cosmetics and possibly an end to CV respawning,
this also adds another location in Thailand and upgrades Patna,
India to a river port and industrial center. For what it is worth (a
little early one) generic leaders are set to awful values.

Sid
Two errors were reported with 4.47 and 4.48 files:

1) Three units at Alor Star did not move when the city did! This in all scenarios.

2) All British Light AA units had the wrong formation in 5 scenarios (PPO was right - the one
I work in - so I could not see the issue).

These are important enough to warrant an instant fix. If we are lucky 4.48 won't post at all - just 4.49. ONLY the cmt file and the location file change.

Regretfully this means my starting turn must be redone. Can't have the Allies unable to defend Alor Star!

Sid

Luck was on our side first I spotted a problem that needed instant fix
then Sid got held up in transmission
so I have rolled the v4.49 location change back into v4.48 before
sending out

sorry mate I missed this query - and yes you are in the right area
1 ask sid about which is the the ECOM scenario you are after
2 map queries

treat all RHS files at Spookies and Rouges site as now well out of date
the files that you have found in the update area are changes to art that Sid has asked for and is updated as required
er the Alor Star up dat which is on panel t has now been superceed today by the "Phuket"
update
most of the time them be only one update per month but in last week Sid has asked for 3 seperate changes on the one panel hence the progression
do you need them - Yes but only to match art to changes in the latest PWHEX and location files - the bases will still come up on map with out the art changed just wont have a name

RHS v5.02 update posted at Send Space and avail at RHS Web Site

changes

This update is being issued because:

US Army 6th Division was duplicated and
six late war IJN carriers (2 CV, 1 CVL, 3 CVE) had improper
aircraft ordinance so it cannot work (if indeed it DOES work
at all - which I have seen zero evidence of).

Otherwise this folds in all discovered or reported eratta.

I reviewed all the aircraft groups of both sides - after reports some were not defined for unit size (daitai etc) - and found a few of these and a few cases where things were "wings" or "sections" instead of "squadrons" - etc.

At long last RHSEOS has completed to RHS standards air group names - all begin with the service abbreviation - so you know that VP-21 is
USN and don't have to guess. I revised Dutch names so they are slightly easier to read. I shortened some air group names.

Panama Coast Defense Fort has been upscaled to 5 x 16 inch (from 4) and 8 x 14 inch (from 4). Colon remains an interim Caribbean Entry Point with a value of 10 - and will remain so until a revised map is released.

It is reported over 3,000 issues were found with pilots and leaders - and we are still resolving these - so they are not in this update - but will be in 5.10 - along with revised maneuverability values for aircraft.

We have some volunteers doing massive amounts of review - and while this is going to produce some updates - it means we are going to have a very clean set of scenarios. Also, behavior of code seems to improve (in terms of processing time and in terms of more history like events) as we clean up errors - although undoubtedly many are not really germane to anything much.

RHS v5.03 micro update all scenarios posted at Send Space avail at RHS Web Site as well

important note an independant review as found a typo - got the Allied side art folder
and locate Anside00474.bmp and rename to Anside0474.bmp
changes

This is issued because 3 USN and 1 IJN carrier had bad sunk
dates - they do not ever appear. This happens due to an editor bug
and I had forgotten you cannot COPY ANY ship that has a sunk date
UNLESS you fix that field! So all scenarios except BBO were wrong
in this sense.

I have folded in some location file eratta - and there is tool analysis indicating maybe this file is actually clean. It cannot be - but it is nice
to see 3 and 4 lines of errors instead of 1500.

RHS v5.05 for all scenarios Posted on Send Space and avial at RHS WEB SITE
Note to save you some extra downloads I have included the art files fixes for the RTN ships
and the art for the build B-65 Amagi - just unzip these and copy to correct Japanese ship folders
changes
The big deal here is setting all supply sinks (again) -
this time with morale and experience and planning data.
Separated many supply sinks out from parent formations.

Added three cities in Burma.

Created a new CD gun for Japan - 3 inch /25. Code forces all
unused slots to upgrade to the wrong thing - in this case a 16 inch
gun! But it won't- there is no production, no pool and code does not
produce in these high slots to begin with. This weird gun means
we don't have to use a DP gun when we should not - nor a 3 inch
CD that is long range.

Added three art for ships - so you need to download these
or not access B-65 or Ratanokosindra - and Sry Ayuthia
will be wrong class if you look at her without the new art.

What is comprehensive is eratta - changes to all but the
pilot file here. Eratta being reported faster than it can be
incorporated - even meaningless errors are being corrected -
and two that might matter.

Sid

Download Link

PS the Map art changes for the 3 new cities has not been done yet it will part of major
map update - all base fonts have been standardised - all road and trail art hase been redone - I will notify when finished and how to download

Plus indoing the new fonts I will now be able (if enough want it) upload a Map set with no names at all

RHS v5.00 PWHEX files (3 of read documentation carfully) have been posted on Send Space and avail at RHS web site

changes 1 version 5 PWHEX
This is the last CHS compatable RHS map pwhex file.

It mainly revises hexsides in the Burma area to make them
align better with art - and to make the river system at Mandalay
in particular more correct.

It ALSO adds rail connections between Russia and Korea
and between Russia and Manchukuo at two points. This
means the Trans-Siberian RR connects to the Japanese
system at all four points it did - and does today - although
there was a period during which one of these was marked
"destroyed" on some air navigation charts (in the Sino-Soviet
Crisis) and although the Korean connection is rarely used.
[North Korea operates one train per day to Beijing and once
a week it has a through car for Russia - otherwise only special
cargo trains ever cross the border - which - being special- can
be at any crossing point.]

This file is supplied in two forms: pwhex.dat ready for use because it is the normal file and RHS5PW.dat so it can be restored if the alternate Panama pwhex file is ever installed.

Sid

Changes 2 version 5 Panama Companion
This file is IDENTICAL to RHS pwhex version 5 EXCEPT

the hexside between Balboa/Panama City and Colon is LAND instead
of COAST. This means the RR works but ships cannot pass.

It is supplied ONLY for use when/if the Panama Canal is considered damaged by a house rule.

The recommended rule is that the canal is damaged if Port Damage in the Panama City hex exceeds 90% - and it remains damaged until port damage is LESS than 10%. This information is available only to the Allied player - but this file must be installed on the Japanese player's machine in order to work. It must be named pwhex.dat to work.
When not needed the regular pwhex.dat file must replace it. This can be done without the knowledge of the Japanese player if desired - by feeding him a pwhex file each turn - but he does not know which - for a period after an attack on Panama.

This file is ONLY supplied in a special named form - and MUST BE renamed to work. It is called PANPW5.dat
