A few days ago FlashFyre posted a message describing the foundation for a challenging Long Campaign.

FlashFyre wrote:

"A true Challenge Campaign, against the AI, without involving other players, would require the use of the following settings:

AI Advantage - ON
AI Level - 200
Reduced Squads - ON
Reduced Ammo - ON
Weapon Breakdowns - ON
Vehicle Breakdowns - ON
Mines - ON
Command & Control - ON
Use the Hardx2 setting for all battles
Select one of the 6 major nations for your HQ, but then only buy allied equipment (if British, only buy Indian, for example)
Set Spotting to 70% for Player 1, 100% for Player 2
Use Historic Ratings as designed

There may be some other settings that would make the Challenge more challenging to veteran players, but these are most of the important ones
."

Riun T immediately (without looking at the fine print) called me out and said that if I was a real man, then I would play FlashFyre's campaign format. I replied that FlashFyre's idea was only the foundation for a Long Campaign and still needed a lot of details to be worked out. Riun T disagreed and called me out again. Sigh...

Okay, Riun T, this one's for you...

Here are my Preferences, per the FlashFyre format.
3000 point core (FlashFyre format does not specify core size)

I am with you, I would not use reduced ammo against the AI, it only hurts the AI.

As already noted; the AI purchases it's force based upon the total value of your own core. So differing core sizes won't make much a difference; as the AI will compensate with larger (or smaller) forces in response.

Here is my initial Core.
FlashFyre format specifies choosing one of the 6 Long Campaign nations, and then using allied equipment to build the core.
Well, I chose the Soviets (one of the 6 nations), but the Soviets don't have any allied nations, so I'm stuck with the Soviets...

6 batteries 203mm howitzers
6 platoons engineers
6 sections BT-7 tanks
6 sections T-28 tanks
6 platoons OT-130 tanks
1 section ammo trucks
1 section mule packs (to fill out 3,000 points)
Note that Historical Ratings are ON (even though I hate them)

Here is my first mission.
December 1939, meeting engagement vs. Finland.
Note that I am using Hard Battle (x2) per FlashFyre format

Initial deployment.
Note that the center victory hexes are 20 points per turn.

If you chose a Major country, and then stuck with that major country, then your just being a hypocrit when you complain of Riun T doing the same thing with using US Army forces. I'm sorry, but your whole argument is invalidated by this; you did not stick with the Flashfyre campaign format; same as Riun. Since you knew the Soviets had no allies to draw from (discounting every non-major allied nation like Greece or the Free French; who were technically allied with the Soviets); you should have chosen on of the other nations, and used their allies' troops.

The battle ended at that point (on turn 21 out of 30) since I had captured all the victory hexes and the Finnish morale was broken.
Here is the end of Battle Report.
