i was dissapointed with the first GG AWaW, it just didnt work for me, too resource heavy and glitzy (yes, i turned the animations off)

is this new game just a massive bug fix with some new features or a real improvement over the original ? please let me know otherwise i will strike this one off of my wishlist.

do i get a discount if i trade in my GGAWAW digital download ?

We think it's a big improvement with a lot of new game elements. But of course, we're biased. With changes having to do with War Readiness levels for the Soviets and the US, neutral country diplomacy, random political and technology events, and signals intelligence/spies, there's a lot of new elements that alter gameplay. Also, there are major changes to the way combat works and several new rules that add more realism to amphibious invasions and the way airpower works against different targets (you won't see airpower clear an area of land units in the same way you would in WaW). There's also the new element of having the Soviets fight the WA if the Allies win the war, which is totally new. Hopefully you'll see some more AAR's here soon from some of the testers which should give you a better idea.

As for questions about price, discounts, language localization, store versus digital download, you should get answers in the near future from Matrix.

This game has brought WW2 into a new dimension...With the addition politics and spies, you can't bring in the predictiables...Minors that are pro to your side send you resources and supplies, and make you think twice of invading them...If you don't spend on Homeland security, your foes will steal your tecks blind, or vis-a-versa...No longer can the Axis know when the US or the USSR enter the war, every action the Axis does, from sinking transports, to invading minors, affects a War Readiness of both these powers...No one in thier right mind will invade Spain in this game...There are so many more what If's in this game...Icons change with teck research...Signet (decoding) research can help you see enemy movements and give you an added advantage in combat...There are changes in the map, mainly in Eastern Russia, some in the Med and North Sea.

There is so much, much, more...

Well, here´s an honest answer:
If you have a problem with a resource heavy game, then this is probably not the game for you, sounds like you prefer operational level games, this is definitely Global Grand strategy with everything that entails.  If you prefer, you can play without supplies at all, therefore almost all your money goes to units.  As for the glitziness you refer to, you CAN substitute NATO unit icons for image icons, though the presence of the graphics helps to clue you in on how advanced your opponents have become, i.e. when you see the German fighter go from ME-109 to FW-190, it´s a bit of a wake up call and impossible not to notice.
