Going through the database in CHS 2.08 (nik mod) it seems all the US small landing craft start at Panama City. This means that instead of drawing from the pool as in the stock scenerios, all these little boats will arrive at Panama City. I found this by accident, when I advanced the date to 01 Jun 43 and ended up with a pile of small craft stuck in the CZ.

These LCI/LCT's simply were not designed for open ocean crossings and were carried aboard AK's most of the way. I've switched all mine back to not having an arrival port and it seems to work as in stock. The Army boat units I gave more accurate arrival ports (most in the SWPac area) to reflect how those units were actually deployed.

Seems like this might be a problem for Allied players later in the war, unless I'm missing something. Can deployed boats be returned to the pool?

I have questioned why these are even in the game, for at least with the Allies they are not necessary for any kind of amphibious landings as this is already built into the game. The best response I can get is that "they were present". Their inability to cross open water, typically being carried by APA/AKA/LSD, etc., to the landing area, is very obvious.

LCIs are about as useful to Allies as barges....that is, not very useful...

To add, I'd remove them from Allied if there is need for more free slots.

Actually - while IJA in particular undertook spectacular voyages with such craft - it is neither unique to that service nor that era. PRC has built a navigation shack into its LCMs and expects them to stay at sea up to 10 days - not always because of distance - sometimes so it can make more than one round trip: but the trip to Taiwan from the mainland is considered routine and a mission to the far side of the island not a problem. IDF used such craft in a famous raid down the Red Sea and doctrinally uses them in preference to landing ships of any kind - which it does not have.
USN is up to such things when appropriate, and so are Aussie forces. I am sure this isn't a wholly useless concept.

In WWII the Japanese used both landing craft and pressed small craft (in tens of thousands - likely hundreds of thousands) for forward supply - and it mattered. To these they added the Sea Truck - a sort of baby AK. You will find these too in CHS - and more formally - identified as such - in RHS. They are treated as landing craft - and they are not useable for resources in WITP code.
