Planes crashes into N.Y. building

* Witness: Huge flames, people were screaming
* President informed; crash believed to be accident

*UK news stations broadcast nothing but the same shot of flames rising from an apartment window for the rest of the evening. Naturally people will get a little jumpy when an aircraft hits a building, but to blackout all other nerws stories in favour of a (reletively) minor aviation accident for the entire early evening slot just grates.

I know what you mean.

However, I understand why they are sticking to this story as CNN currently is, in that it has NOT been proven to NOT be terrorism related.

Combat aircraft have been scrambled over several major US cities.

In light of 9/11 who knows whether this is but part of a wider scheme to crash small planes into other buildings in NY and other cities...

The goal of terrorism is.... to generate terror...

Oh, man...it's just been reported that NY Yankees' pitcher Cory Lidle was one of the two aboard the small plane who died. It is unknown whether Lidle was behind the controls. This was a tragic accident, nothing more.

My condolences to the families and to Yankee fans.

Sure it was a accident, but never the less. WTF was he doing buzzing Yankee stadium , short of mechanical error the pilot was a idiot.

I fell bad for the people in the building and on the ground that these hotdogs put in mortal danger.

I wasn't listening too closely, but from a talk show this evening I was listening to, they said that they had sent a distress call before going down. They mentioned something about the engine stalling out, but I don't know if that was conjecture or not. Apparently both bodies fell 31 stories out of the plane after the crash to make matters worse.
