Hi everyone.

This will be a joint AAR for myself and SamCole. We are playing the current version CHS scenario 155 updated 1.802. I have currently 2 PBEM games going one standard may 42, and one CHS jan 42. I am allied in both scenarios the stock game my opponent is very skilled and aggressive, my other CHS my opponent is very cautious so I have experianced two different playing styles. SamCole I have never seen an AAR on nor do I know his experiance or style, except he also has a couple of games going and I answered his opponent wanted ad. This being my first AAR it will get better as time goes on and as there are spies some data may be misinterpeted (as real life) or withheld.

Where to begin?

On or about Dec 7th I was rudley awakened by loud sounds from the Harbor below. I rushed to window with glee when what to my wondering eyes appeared? Hundreds of Japanese airplanes raining down early Christmas cheer. Over the radio I heard an evil cackle, it was Sam-san screaming "You allies are going to be shocked and awed into submission". Well we will see about that I jumped on my motorcycle and headed to the harbor arriving just as I saw the USS Maryland turn turtle (now that aint' right!). As I rushed into headquarters I was handed the situational reports which I will give the gory details below.

Landings Khota Baru (18th division plus support)
Landing and Caputr Bataan (standard)
Landing Vigan & Appari PI
Landing Guam
various AK's bombed near Hong Kong and China.

Ok I scratch my head and think Hmmm no wake landing (I am shocked), Pearl Harbor attack had no torpedo attacks but 1 BB went down with others damage so standard. Only invasions are PI and Khota Baru. No Japanese surface forces sighted except standard landings, so my Japanese opponent is not that aggressive, I will see the allies on the doorstep of Tokyo by the spring! Time to start and orderly retreat as we have time. With that I leave the office and go to the local Bar, this war should be over shortly!

Don't think that because I do not take what I think is unfair advantage of the first turn movement bonus that I am not aggressive. I made the first turn that I advertised I would do.

I woke with a loud explosion in my head. I definatly drank too much yesterday why won't these sounds stop! As I rose out of bed I realized those sounds where very familar!!! Oh no another attack on Pearl!
Once again I race outside to see the Japanese aircraft flying without intervention upon our pristine harbor. The Shock again. I once again jump on my motorcycle and race to HQ, this time really pissed off.
As I enter and read the first reports I realize things will not be as easy as I assumed (we all know what happens when you assume). Sam-san not only launched two separte strikes vs Pearl but his subs spread out across the pacific at my harbors and shipping channels and there were no less then 8 separate reports of allied ships being torpedoed. In addition more landings and Parachute drops! I can say I am shocked and awed by what I see. Sam-san is definatly aggressive I will like this war!

"Do you always exaggerate your repair claims Scotty"

I would choose to forget Dec 9th as the war is looking bleak, but in the background I hear the radio play "The sun will come up tommorrw, bet your bottom dollar that tommorrow ...." I slam the radio to the floor, don't they know the sun is rising and my ships are sinking.

Once again my motorcycle takes me down the HQ this morning there where no strikes on Pearl, but the harbor and airfield are definatly not in working order, nor is most of the fleet. I enter this time to a dispirited group and they hand me a scotch with the reports. More landings and captures, Kates already at Jolo and divebombers at Cotabu are wreaking our fleeing transports, the subs continue their terror. Over 200 bombers sighted at Khota Baru. More Landing on PI Tuguegaroa. Makin and Tarawa fall. KB hits poor MSW at Johnstone Island as it withdraws from Pearl. Landings at Brunei with CA force destroying tankers loading with fuel. Mini KB is shutting down southern escape route in Celebes Sea from PI and surface forces moving to assist. CA Houston and Boise attacked by mini KB at Tarakan. Small good note PT boats in PI engage enemy forces, most sunk as they encounter DD's and CL's. Small force gives good measure at Bataan.

This day had one very good bright spot! Force Z sorties at Kutching and catches 3 CA's and some DD's, unfortunatly they chose not to stick around and intervene with the transports afterwards. Hmm I thought I suggested they should, therefore landings start at Kutching and soon the area will be a Japanese lake as their bombers will range supreme. Once again I like an aggressive opponent. Dutch sub hits AP leaving Brunei it will probably make it home, Jap subs tag two ML. PT boats engage Jap DD fleet amazingly only 1DD torpedoed no other ships hit.

On a sad note I spotted a Japanese force heading to Menado, thinking Sam-san probably sends some ships without escort I sent the Boise to intercept. Unforturnatly the BB Nagato, BB Mutsu had other plans, scratch one Boise.

1st attack on Hong Kong reduces fort, I don't thin they will last long. Brunei captured as well as several others, Other then Menado no new landings.

Also I am not listing them but of course Mini KB and bombers from Jolo, Cotabu still reigning terror. Also CS's showed up and are joining in their fun.

Actual losses after this turn for shipping.

Well its been two and half weeks and I have not heard from SamCole, since the last turn. Even though I have sent several emails.

He is my first opponent to disappear, but from what I have read this can happen. I have 3 theorys.

1)Something personal came up, or computer failure, but he probably would have gotten an email out since then.

2)My CV's totally wiped out a major unit at which he cannot find the desire to continue.

or the most likely reason.

3) The emperor wanting to see the battle up close was aboard the CA Mikuma that sunk and he went down with the ship. Losing heart the Japanese simply withdrew into their buddhist temples and prayed.

If SamCole reapears I will continue the battle as I though his opening moves were very well planned and executed. Till then I will look for another opponent.

I am in Shock and Awe.
