Hi,
I'm running v1.6 (I think) and have playing a single game since last January. I'm playing allies against AI. I'm in April 1944 and have just started to recieve B-29 units. The first was a SE Asia unit, and when I changed it over to Human Control and to Central Pacific, it disappeared from the game. (I had no save for that one.)
A week or two later, when my second B-29 unit arrived --also SE Asia-- I left it under computer control and did not change the theatre in order to prevent it from disappearing too. Guess what: it disappeared anyway!
I guess I wouldn't mind if it were p-39s, but I need these B-29s to win. What can I do?

FYI, these units are both gone from the game and no B-29s appear anywhere. Help!

If you have parts of the map under AI control the computer is known for moving stuff around even if you told him not to. Did you search for those squadrons by using the "Land Bases AC" list (the green aircraft symbol above the main map)? The AI might have moved these planes to a really, really stupid place really, really far away (the transfer range is incredible).

I looked, but the computer just wiped the unit off the board. Fortunately, I had a save and did what you suggested (i.e., take the SE Asia region off computer control) and the unit appeared for two more turns and even allowed my to switch it to Central Pacific.

However, once I put SE Asia back onto computer control --despite the fact that the 40th BG had been switched to Central Pacific and "human" control two turns before-- the unit disappeared again after the next turn.

I've also updated to v 1.802 so everything's current.

Has no one else experieneced this obvious bug?

Thanks.

Two things if the a/c were loaded onto a ship by the comptuer they wouldn't show up in the land a/c d/b but rather in the naval a/c db. You could try looking there.

Otherwise, if you have the saves check to see how many B29's are in the pool just before and just after they disappear. Did the planes go to the pool. If so, then the computer disbanded or withdrew them, though how it did this without there being a goup with the same a/c avaliable I am unsure, unless you are playing v1.801.

Check the a/c reinforcement list, have they reappeared in there?

Hi Mantill - Thanks for your response.

I checked and the planes weren't shipped off. It does appear that they were disbanded and put back into inventory, so to speak.

Oddly, it seems that as long as I keep SE Asia (or SW Asia, in the game) under Human Control, the computer doesn't disband my units. If I put it under computer control it does disband my B29 units regardless of whether they've been switched over to Central Pacific or if they remain under SE Asia human control.

This happened to me early in the game when I received my first P38-A Recon units but I simply just took the disappearance in stride (figured on faulty navigation, like with the Glacier Girl and lost squadron of the Bermuda Triangle ) but I don't think I can win this game without B29s.

unfortunately these sort of things happen when the computer is in charge. This is why most people wont let the computer run any part of there operation.

It looks like your only choice is to head back before the disbanding and keep SEAC under your control or you could move the B29's out of the SEAC area all together. I believe the computer controls what ever is within the area boundaries, as indicated on the main map (Ctrl-A). If you take the p[lanes aout of this area it shouldn't be able to touch them. I say shouldn't but one of the partial ASI faults is that it can take chharge of things it shouldn't.

Unfortunately the AI was disbanding my B29 units when they were in San Francisco and Pearl Harbor. I'll keep SEAC on human control from now on and hope for the best.
Thank you and VSWV for your help.
