Hi Aztez , long time no update .. I'm happy your being so agressive over china .. severely denting training there is a great move forward. helldiver vs dauntless .. all rather similar arent they ?.. IRL IIRC the pilots preferred the dauntless over the helldiver.

F6 is a bit of a must though

Cheers guys!

I will post couple of screenshots tomorrow morning once the new turn arrives. (I usually do it before I leave the house). The operation is underway soon. Transport ships and BB's are now sailing to Midway. CV armada will soon follow.

I think I made the right choice by denying him the easy target practise in China and Burma. It was costly though and many times my Spitfire pools were down to 0!!! ...but now I have a firm control above the skies there.

I read that too Rob. It was somewhat intresting that SBD Dauntless was rated superior than Helldivers. The Hellcats are a must though and luckily I have now enough of them in the pool to go ahead with this offensive.

The bad news is that I do not enough shipping and infantry to do simultaneous assaults againts Wake Island and Marcus Island. So, the Wake base will be targeted first. Once it is seized I will move heavy LBA's in there along with Corsairs and start pounding Marcus Island to dust via LBA power. That should prevent any reinforcements arriving there.

Yeah, lets definately hope this wohn't end up in disaster!

I can now confirm that the invasion is underway. All ships involved left Midway base last turn...

Next turn around 80 US 4E bombers will visit Wake Island. Another BB bombardment run is also scheduled.

US and RN CV's are nearing Wake Island too and these ships will sail past it just in case Dave deciedes to bring in the Japanese naval forces into area.

Troops will also start unloading next turn. It is propably going to be bloody. My intel indicates 590 enemy troops present. This has to BS since he does have 5 units there. (We will know soon enough)

RAF have launched strikes againts Tavoy and Myithkina. This should keep Dave guessing whether the Burmese offensive is about to start.

B25's will also strike againts Sian Oilfields next turn. This is also an secondary bombardment.

OZ troops have not yet moved towards Derby. I'am waiting for the right moment to do this.

2 US Divisions and 1 US Tank brigade is loading at SF. These guys are heading into CenPac. Most likely target for these guys are Marcus Island. (Maybe even Iwo Jima or Bonin if I deciede to bypass Marcus) That would be an bold move and seriously threaten his commercial shipping.

...unfortunately my CV's were not in range to intercept these enemy ac's. (It is hard to control them with 3 day turns)

Well, next turn all the US and RN CV's are sailing on head collision course towards enemy CV's. So, unless Dave withdraws his forces we will see one hell of an CV duel next turn!

I'am not even sure that I will win this encounter but it is kind of an do or die situation.

The ground combat continued at Wake Island too...

Next turn just an ground bombardment is scheduled. Distrubtion and fatigue levels are high.

Also US BB TF's are heading towards Wake Island too. (Their orders are to bombard but the CV situation will dictate whether these ships will do it or.... )

OOH ! His adjusted defence just dropped dramatically. i wonder if 1 or more units is low on supply ?

OUCH on the japanese CV's .. 2 day turns are hard enough so i can only imagine the issues with 3 day turns

Turn received or at least an combat report of it.

Well, to put it short I pretty much kicked the Imperial navy's butt at Wake Island. He tried to move the KB and some elements of the BB forces there and my CV pilots made short work of them.

I did offer Dave a redo of turn. There is no bugs involved though but I kind of felt sorry for him losing his main naval assets. He will sleep over it and we shall see what he thinks.

3 day turns are easy to deal with. If you make an mistake than it will multiply x 3 times.

I wohn't post any combat reports of the developments yet until we know whether to redo turn or not.

Here is the summary combat from previous turn around Wake Island. Remember I did offer Dave an redo if he wanted. No bugs or anything but I felt it was a gentlemans thing to do.

To be honest though I'am way behind any allied schedule on this one. I cannot go atoll hopping in South since I cannot support those kind of offensives. I'am aiming for more direct route towards Japan via Wake --> ... and via Aleutians.

Last turn action would help me to get something going IF we will not do an redo. It wohn't be a complete redo since I did already loose +60 tranport ships in Wake and also have suffered from huge distrubtions. Also Dave could have wihtrawn his navy but chose not to.

Enough of this. This is how the things went.

Well it paid off when I chose to be aggressive. This was kind of an "Midway" for the enemy. Personally I would like to continue but have wait on Dave's take on things. (We will complete this PBEM eitherway)

The ground combat continued with no significant gains for allied side. Next turn allied troops will not shock assault. Instead they will bombard.

The US BB's did make an succesfull bombardment of Wake last turn.

The bad news from last turn was that Japanese submarine did put 2 torpedos to BB Colorado. No news what the damage is but propably will take her out of action for good while.

Has Japan got any combat ships left after that ?

Will certainly make your direct route a lot more easier knowing that
the japanese don't have a carrier force anymore.

Grats ! If you don't re-do it. and even if you do then KB is juat a target to be sunk later rather than a threat.

Thanks! I do not have turn yet just combat replays so I cannot confirm what ships are already confirmed sunk.

However it looks like KB was reduced in numbers. Take those CV's away and Japan still has some CV strenght but.

Also we have decieded to continue forward with the game without an redo of the turn.

True. Looking at the combat reports though --> at least BB Yamashiro and BB Nagato were hit hard too.

I'am actually sending my CV's after any crippled Japanese ships. Hopefully I can bag some juicy targets next turn!

I really don't know. We have an houserule that most Carriers should be on 50% CAP and some can be left in LRCAP. So, basically I have no clue why his CAP was low.

Propably had to do with earlier turns assaults againts my transport fleets at Wake since Dave did loose quite few planes there than.

My CV's were fresh and every single one of them were drawn into this operation.

it was huge jap error
jap cap at this moment should be 200+ and even 300+ during such operation

I do agree totally. Dave did score many hits on my transports (sunk more than 60) earlier turns and should have left it with that. Instead he stayed for another turn and paid for it dearly. Had he withdrawn towards Marcus Island he still would have his KB intact.

When planning this Wake invasion I was actually 99.99% certain that he would commit KB so there was really no suprise when his CV's showed up.

You lost more than 60 transports off Wake ? KB should have gone away after such slaughter but that was probably another case of 'everything is going OK until now, I will continue one more day'. And then KA-BOOM!!!

Jap CVs should definetly have left, but I admit having done such errors myself, so no hard criticism intended.

At least the KB died sinking Allied ships (even transports) it can't achieve much in 1944.

Yes, I did loose more 60 ships.  It is not easy to provide CAP when playing on with 3 day turns. Actually quite hard to organize good an solid timetables for naval invasions. Ships do move with so diffrent speed that they might get drifted too much apart.

Personally, Dave is very tough opponent. He has kicked my butt big time in this one. As you said AmiralLaurent he should have withdrawn and not get too "greedy".

Yeah, those CV's died in an somewhat succesfull offensive operation. (Those lost transports will hurt for sometime)

...and Akagi, Zuikaku and co. and unaccounter!  Also those monsters Yamamoto and Musashi are still somewhere lurking.

If he sunk LCU's on those transports, it would have been succesful. But in this case I think its a pretty bad outcome.

First off nice to see new readers.  That will always boost to upgrade these AAR's more frequently.

You are right general billy I did not loose huge amount of troops with those AP's/AK's BUT what I did loose was huge amount of supplies which is causing some problems to my troops at the moment.

I do not have next yet due to having email problems yesterday so I cannot comment whether my CV's found more enemy targets in the area.

Supplies are easliy remedied compared to repairing a units TOE .. 60 ships though .. yikes

At least you got the place which is what matters .. where are you prepping them for now . or keeping the wake prepping for mopping up the japanese ?

It's totally impossible to control anything on multiple day turns as there is no mechanism in the game/interface unfortunately.
