OK an interesting turn PZB mined the Malacca Straight last night and the FT TF with 37th Inf Div on board ran smack into it a DD hit a mine and then a sqn of betties torp one whole TF turned for home !!!

The paras land and sieze Malacca but without the follow on Infantry from the FT TF the will be on their own for 24 hours at least 50 Long Range P38's flew in the provide cover fat the AF

Singapore is hit hard by Carrier Air and Superforts successive waves of Bombers destroy the AF and most the aircraft there

Basically its job done the part and AF at Singapore is neutralsised and Malacca is siezed.

Japanese surface warships are damaged and maybe sank overall a successfull turn certainly keeps the operation within mission parameters we go on !!!!

Follow on turn my TF's arrive at Malacca at Midnight and unloading will commence tommorow

Jap surface TF of 3 DD's tries to get in amongst the transports but runs into Iowa

PZB has scattered his ships from Singapore Port but most of my bombers were on AF attack as I MUST ensure that Singapore AF is closed and kept closed !!!

No counter invasion of Malacca by Para so my Army should begin to unload in peace tomorrow.

I now have c 60 P38's, 20 P40N's and 16 Mosquito Recon Birds at Malacca so the port should be protected from High Altitude Kamis ----my ships at sea will need to take there chances

Carrier air is going after the fleeing transports and ships from Singapore hopefully we wil take em out

So far so good I am reaonably content

So far so good Andy. I was a bit worried about the strait being mined but didnt seem to hurt you that much. As soon as you get 2E bombers based there Sings is in real trouble.

Another thing you might want to think about with Sings is the point value its worth to Pzb. Also if you could make the harbor safe, it would give you a nice little repair yard to repair ships up to cruiser size.

I figure PZB will think that I will head to Singapore direct.

Actually I am going to secure the AF's I need and bring in supply and stock Malaya to be the arsenal for the push on Japan.

When he returns form Holiday I will brief everone about my new 'cunning' plans !!!!!

A plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call is a weasel?

So cunning it could have been thought up by the Professor of Applied Weaselness at Oxford University

But is probably borderline in terms of sanity so..........it may not go ahead but I will enjoy speculating about it.

p.s. I am unilaterally reducing my max CAP % to 50% as well as applying my previously agreed stacking limits in this game and in my game against Simon - others may follow after I assess the impact on those two games.

Chez and Pauk will have to wait until I figure out if this fixes the UBER CAP problem

I'm looking forward to seeing those results. Tis a shame that we have to do it this way to fix something that should have been addressed some time ago.

Well something has changed that much is obvious.

Intrepid ate a torpedo from a night bombing Grace !!!!

Damage is serious but not critical

I have 2 Australian Divs plus 1st Corsp HQ and 3 Armoured regts ashore at Malacca in good shape as the unloaded over a port.

Add to that plenty of support and a convoy approaching with armour and support troops and all is well in the West Coast.

A new TF is approaching Singapore with 2 more Divs I am tempted to land them at Khota Baru and sieze the large AF there question is the disruption from an assault landing worth the acceleration of the Malayan conquest or should I just funnel through the port I control.

Any thoughts ?

Port. You must preserve your forces from amphibious landing. Plus with the road that Malaya has, you lose only two or three days.

Not worth IMO

Aye I must admit I agree I am sending the initial force south towards Johore 2 Divs backed by 1 armoured regt (1 Div is 100% prepped for Johore the other is now at 5% - I hedged my bets prep points wise in case I had to assault land somewhere)

2 Armoured Regts will head west and be backed by follow on waves will head West to secure while a probe will head north.

I have about 70 Land Based Fighters at Malacca with a PBY Sqn and a recon Sqn so my carriers can begin to pull out.

33rd US is not frar of that will give me 4 Divs ashore with one more to follow in teh Army of Malaya

Today the allies got caught and caught good

1stly a supply convoy got mauled as its escorting carriers remained in Darwin Harbour....Port Admiral will be shot as apparently the crew of the Tico had a bar brawl with 3rd NZ Div which delayed her sailing by 24 hours

And then my CVE's miss the rendevous by 60 miles leaving a convoy to get mangled by LBA

It was bound to happen at some stage this convoy had the aviation regt and base forces on board most should make it to harbour but its irritating as hell !!!

1 LCI recieved 7 KAMIKAZE hits

Andy,

what do you think about just landing your 7 divisions with lots of support somewhere in the north east of the home islands? Kamis are activated already and I think not every base in the HI can have a good garrison - at least not as good as the islands in the Marianas. Go there under an umbrella of your CVs, land, take a base and begin to level Japan with 4E bombers.

Just my 2 cents.

I have 7 Fleet Carriers either arriving in the next 50 days or coming out of refit.

In the next 90 days I get enough new Amphib lift for 2 Divs, I have enough amphib lift currently at PH for 2 Divs so yes I think the Marianas are back on for mid Jan 45.

The 11 Divs at Darwin 5 at Rabaul and 2 at Wasile plus the three being withdrawn to refit from Borneo will be used for the assault on North Borneo, Taan and then probably Formosa or possibly direct to Okinawa.

So 21 Divs in total If I see signs of wholesale troop withdrawals I may change target.

I would like to withdraw 3 or 4 of the Malaya Divs as well but that may not be possible.

I am down to only 500,000 tonnes of supply at Wasile, Rabaul and Darwin so I need to free up some of the AK's currently on assault duty hauling supplies for the advanced troops to go back to the West Coast run.

Supplies are my biggest bottleneck at present allied bombers eat them up at a fearsome rate as do Divs on combat duty.

The 10 Divs of US 10th Army in Centpac will attack either the Marianas or the Bonins or possibly north Japan.

I have to say I am more worried now that I am restricting my CAP to 50% and my carriers stacking plus all the HL Kamis that are attacking. Unsupported Deep strikes are risky I could lose a carrier easily at present.

If PZB had not wasted his carriers off of NG this would be the moment to strike (althougth it is unlikely I would have went this deep if KB was intact)

I have calculated I need on fully loaded 7,000 tonne AK arriving at Darwin AND Rabaul every single day to sustain my stockpiles - even with allied shipping this is difficult. Normally I would be supplying North Aus/ Malaya from India I cannot do that in this game.

Ahhh nuts PZB got me in a bind then hit hard. My screen did its job but still this is nasty !!!!

THose DE's did a great job defending the convoy.

I never even knew PZB was in the area - the thing is I had limited all my carrier air to range 1 beacause I didnt want to waste pilots attacking Sinagpre where PZB has several small TF's in port.

OK this has forced my hand the cancer at Singaore must be extinguished.

I have ordered all Heavy Bombers to stand down and withdrawn 2 Liberator Gps from Banja replacing them with 2 B29Gps so I will have 250 B29's. They are resting today and will launch tomorrow.

All my Carriers in the Malacca straight including the 2 fresh P38 Gps that have flown in to reinforce will be used to sweep Singers.

This will be a max effort strike to incinerate those AF's need 24 hours to rest my pilots then they are going in HARD.

Fuel in Malaya is becoming an issue my Oilers are down to 20,000 tonnes and its a long way home.

Tankers are on the way but I will need to strongly consider withdrawing my capital ships from malayan waters to replenish within 3 days at most.
