This is an incredible news!!! I really glad that this geat wargames series is brought back to life. Congratulations to you and Matrix games for making this possible. Would you believe me that I just finished playing Close Combat 1 - St. Lo campaign today ? Yeah I'm probably the last fan of CC1 of this planet but I can't help it I love it the most from of all the wargames I have ever played on my computer. Come to think of it I'm going to probably update my CC1 editors... and just reinstalled all the rest CC games on my laptop today before the the news, still have them and play them all in their orginal form except CC1 of course - I have my custom campaigns. I'm really looking forward to Close Combat Cross of Iron - you have no idea how happy I am right now

hey Shaun,
Best of luck with this.....
If you are using the straight CC3 source code make sure you tone down the morale bonus for snipers, and keep that Private Ivan guy, he was cool. Also, the whacky way the screens went together in the scenario editor was never supposed to be in the game, they where never re-designed, please fix that too.
I may just be buying a game from you, first one in years.

Hia Guys,
Good to be back ;)
I have to say that this is kind of like a dream really.
Working on CC and being able to do the things with it we have always wanted to! We have learned an awful lot from the work we have done over the past 2 years and continue to do with the military that will stand us in very good stead with CC in the future!
Now, I just have to convince Dave to give me a game, so I can whoop his ass ;)

can't wait, really looking forward to this.
Couple of requests:
1. Please improve infantry survivability - I know this was worked on in RR but I still was unhappy with the end result, the crunchies are far too vulnerable in terrain.
2. Tweak up the code for tank target acquisition - although definitely better than cc2 I'm hoping it could be improved on.
Me Credit card is ready or if you'd like a hand with some testing let me know

My hope for this game is a combination of several of the CC games.
I loved CC2's location and multinational troops. I loved CC3's setting on the Eastern Front and the russian maps I loved CC4"s inclusing of battle groups and I loved CC5's gameplay.
What I dont want to see is CC2's poor handling of squads and combat CC3's tank insanity. It made Command and Conquers tank rush ploy seem like child's play. CC4's infantry to tank BG ratio. In the battle of the Bulge I believe that less than 20% of the german army was armor or motorized. In CC4 it was 80% of the battlegroups that were armored and Motorized. CC5's location. Enough of Normandy already.
Wishlist for future CCC games (if we go there) Wouldnt mind a return of CC1's battle replay save feature. I begged Eric Young to add the feature of allowing the commanders to award medals instead of just letting the computer randomly do it. He finally did this for GI combat. Wouldnt mind it in here. Wanted a powerful editor that not only allowed us to edit BGs (which they did for CC5) but also squads and soldiers. And always will argue for a this game to model squad leader in that just give us basically an editor and some basic scenarios and let US make the battles we want. Then follow up with add on packs for the different nationalites. Squad leader started out with just the russian front but added new counters and maps in follow up games that allowed the games to stage almost any battle of WWII. This beats the old Atomic game theory of "Do one battle or campaign" at a time. We had to rely on mods to get to other theaters of WWII. Give us the game and we will make the campaigns and battles ourselves and want to get more of your add ons when they come availible rather than waitng for each battle to come out.
PS fix the "random drop" method of deployment for the AI. Is so stupid to see an 88 ATG placed in an area where it has no feild of fire and was utterly useless. The AI always deployed so badly when it was randomly placed at the start of a scenario
I suggested that they create "Deployment zones" on the maps each for different types "armor deployment zone, ATG deployment zone, infantry probably most anywhere but also in key areas" IF the AI set up a little better at the start of scenarios the game would play better

This is the best news I could have hoped for! I own all the five CC games, and will buy this new version of CC 3 asap when it is released. My favourite is actually CC 3, since I really like to follow one (1) battlegroup.
This is great news! Im happier than a pig in poop to hear this! I think CC2 was my first windows game. I even went and bought it again online somewhere, recently (I forget). I think it was the game that really got me paying attention to WW2 history as well. After CC3 it all went down hill for me. I really hope there is rework on a proper campaign system much like CC2's campaign system. If not, then better.
It will be intersting to see what turns up.

Well, I must say that the license acquisition of CC is absolutely fantastic. I remember testing/playing GIC/GIC2 with some of you folks (Marc, Shaun, Vic, Tim, and Senior Drill) Once Cross of Iron comes out I'll be one of the folks first in line. I never played the original CC series online, but I did buy them all when they first came out and loved every one of them. I still don't think that there is ANY game out there that compares.
