Did you have the A-bomb? If you do and Japan's production is below 10, they will surrender.

Germany already surrender?

if so, probably A-bomb developed by wallies causing Japanese surrender. ( heavy bomber land attack of 9 )

the bomber was at level 10.  i was disappointed that after japan and germany fell that a screen did not pop up asking if i want to declare war on the ussr.

try going back and reloading turn, before Japan surrenders adjust the game settings to make either the Wallies or the Russians AI controlled. this should cue the post war scenario to start after an axis surrender.

the ussr was AI controlled.  i will try back dating.  is their some kind on menu selection to declare war?  or just move a allied unit into a ussr control space?

what scenario? total war ? if so, after the axis both surrender you should start into the post war battle between Russia and the Wallies with Russia taking over the role of axis.

try end phase button from the victory screen that may jump you to the post war continuation

double post.

the more I think about it the more I think thats what you need to do. If your playing the Wallies only you need to end that turn (either from the map or the victory screen, I forget) and then the Russians get to move first in the post war .... err' war.

i did have china under my control. i switched it to AI.  is the ussr the only one that can declare war?  the game does not want to go into a after ww2 war.  maybe because japan quit before germany ??

there is a problem in the japan quits.  13.1.2 says there are 3 conditions for japan to quit.  the second one was not met the ussr was not at war with japan.

After Germany surrenders the Russians automatically declare war on Japan.
But you say Japan surrenders first? The game should not end at that point then?

Do you have a save game file you can post for us just before Japan surrendered? Just to confirm, the following conditions 1 and 3 were met, but not condition 2:

1) The Western Allies have Atomic bomb capability (Heavy Bomber with Land Attack of at least 9) and Japan does not Atomic bomb capability
2) The Soviet Union is at war with Japan
3) Japanese Victory Points must be less than 10.

Are you sure that Japan and the USSR were not at war (you can look in the political screen to check this)?

Please send the save that is just before Japan surrendered (or alternatively, as closely before as possible with info on when they actually surrendered). Send the save (or saves) to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks.

Yes I had this problem also while playing as Germany.  Japans Economic score was in the 20s with England taken out and it was trouncing the Amercians basically.   They did however have nukes researched which is one of the victory conditions.  It basically issued a surrender some time during the American turn. Altho I didn't see a message.

I had japan surrender during her turn because germany was defeated and America had just created the bomb ( bomber level 9 attack) in research. The game run through everyones turn again BEFORE finally giving me the victory screen.

Was Japan below 10 in production the first time?

Also, in the case where Japan had 20 production and then surrendered, is it possible that the WA was able to cut off Japan from it's resources (usually to the south)? Often you will see that Japan cannot maintain 10 production because they have their transport network taken out. Unless they have a rail path into China that makes its way to enough resources, it is possible to have Japan suddenly drop from 20 production to below 10 if they lose their transports along the Chinese coast. The only item we know for sure at this point isn't working is that the check to see if the Soviets are at war with Japan is not being made when determining whether Japan will surrender.

Joel - Man that is possible actually. The Japanese player was on computer not on live player tho so I am not sure.

Japan had a huge navy still and the USA navy was getting trouced but I don't remember seeing a its transports up and running.

oh I forgot to mention. It only happens (for me) when Japan is computer controlled. I tried using the autosave to manually play japan and it did not occur again (1947 btw)

In my case Japan was decimated, she had no transports to speak of, no navy and I had captured all most every Island in the Pacific. I held Okinawa and Iwo Jima and had taken Korea and Peking.

I was avoiding going to level 9 on bombers cause I knew from past experience before Japan surrenders one must redeploy a bit for the Soviet war that is coming. I researched the bomber cause I wanted Japan to surrender, I was hoping though that the surrender would lead to game over and then the start of the Soviet War. Instead it gave them another move.

Germany had surrendered and the Soviets were at war with Japan, they just hadnt had a chance to attack as they finished of Germany and ended their turn.

Do you have a save just before you researched the WA A-bomb? If you do, please send it to 2by3@2by3games.com so I can recreate the problem. Sounds like the victory check is being missed somehow (coming before tech level improvement?).
