Onime, I hope your day is going better. If you need to rant we are here.

Heh...thank you Bruce. There is really not much to rant about and I'm too tierd. Oh yes, there is one thing. I start my new schedule this monday. No more overnights.

I'll now be working Monday and Tuesday mornings and Friday and Saturday evenings (its a 24/7 call center, so all the supervisors have to do a weekend, oh well). I'm looking forward to it very much....except that I only found out about it by sheer accident, when my immediate superior mentioned something about me training new personel on Monday in an email. My response was "huh?". To which he replies, "oh, you didnt know"?

I swear..this place....

The CEO of my company just decided to walk through the call center. AAAAAAHHHHHHH

Let us talk to him. We'll straighten him out.

As many times as I've talked to him in my life (3 to be exact), he seems like one of the more normal people in the company. He has a reputation for being a hard*ss, but I suppose people in his position are entitled. At least he seems to be fair.

Fair and profitable is all you can really ask of a CEO.

I'm too far down the totem pole to really care about the actual worth, but its one of the top logistics companies in the world. When you narrow it down to our particular area of expertise, its been #1 for the past 5 years or so.

Furnaces can blow up or get you with carbon monoxide. Let the gas company handle it. Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? They are cheap.

Flipping through the channels tonight came across the game show of sorts on the Fuse station . Pants Off Dance Off is the name of the program. These people need help. The dancers are to strip and dance, but they don't show anything.

Yes, I have one. I also know better than to try to fix anything. I grew up in apartments and I am not mechanically inclined in any way.

I am an idiot. I am working OT on an alcohol/disorderly conduct patrol and tried to stop a 19 year old kid for pissing in public. The kid runs on me and like a grey hound chasing a rabbit, before I know what I am doing, I run after him.

I manage to keep up with him and actually close the distance after 2 blocks (which suprizes the hell out of me since I am twice his age and a good 90lb heavier) and try to grab him. I miss and end up hitting the pavement. Fortunetly 10 years of martial arts has taught me how to roll so I only end up with 2 sprained fingers, a rip in my brand new pants (1st night I wore them) and 2 really badly scraped knees. I am so pissed off that I get back up and finally catch the kid a block later. He tries to resist but after being "Directed into a suppopt beam of a house" (nice way of saying body slammed-I do have 90lb on him) I get him cuffed and under control.

As I sit here writing my report and startring to fell the pain I can't help but ask "Why didn't I just let him go?". I am too old for this but I will have mucho bragging rights with the young officers that the old fart in the Bureau can still catch people.

He was the rabbit, I was the greyhound. Hard to think of 5'9" 220 as a grey hound unless you are talking about the bus type.

This is my second foot chase in two years (caught them both) both times with the same partner (15 years older than me). I told him next time I start to run after someone for something stupid like this he should yell "Heel boy heel!" to get me to return to my senses.
