OK guys serious question PZB has slipped away from me at Johore.

Do I a. secure eastern Malaya 1st or try for Singapore.

I have forces for one or the other any thoughts ?

I would almost prefer to attack east on the assumptions that he is trying to build forts quickly or do I send all 6 Divisions over the top straight at Singapore ?

I might just be able to carry it by force if I do but if I dont I may end up in a long battle

I would finish the conquest of Malaya and come back to Sing after the rest is done. Continue to bomb Sing to eat up supply and disrupt his units there. It will also give your units longer to get all their Prep Points for Sing close to or at 100. Every little bit helps.

This sounds like a good plan. It secures your flanks and makes him burn through supply at a faster rate (if that matters) and lets you get more prep points (which will matter a lot).

I agree I think Singapore is the icing on the cake not the main reason for the attack

I will divert 2 Divs to Mersing and 2 plus armour to secure Kuantan and Khota Bahru 1 Div will head north to probe indo china and try and capture Bandou

1 plus support will remain to stopper the bottle

Do you have useless (PC, PT, MSW), too small or extremely heavy damaged ships in your ports? It would be a good thing to collect those in the ports of Borneo to make PzB think you will get after him from Borneo/ Malaysia. You might want to move them between the bases so he will not easily find out the real numbers. The same is true for crap planes or transport planes.
Divide some of your units to make them look many.

It might be good to do some strategic bombic (does it destroy resourcedumps?) against Singers to stop supply by the heavy industry there. Additionally port, airfield and ground attacks will be needed to bring Singers down fast.

I am avoiding forward deploying PT boats as kamis seem to target them so its unfair

MSW are to valuable to waste and my PC's PG's are all tied to the convoy routes I dont have much to spare a few old DD's perhaps

Strat bombing I am hoping to avoid against Singers I hope that 2,000 AV some armour plus air superiority and the ability to bombard with some old CA's I have shipped forward will make it a short fight.

I have almost changed my mind writing this perhaps I should go in now beofre PZB uses those big flying boats to reinforce hmmmm one big attack see how I do if it works fine if not go after the east coast

I thought you had agreed no big reinforcements by air? If he can still do that trick, then you'll probably want to either (1) keep the Singapore airfield shutdown or, if you can't guarantee that, then (2) go for Singapore first. You don't want 100,000 more troops to show up in Singpaore as you're fighting up the Malaysian peninsula.

We did we agreed no more than 50 x AF lvl so 450 transport sorties a day into Sing potentially !!!

No escort everything on Ground Attack

Next turn I will sweep just in case ;)

I am counting on surprise to let me get away with it.

What is your supply situation in Malaya??
Can you withstand a prolonged seige of Singapore??
I would think you will need some good dice on your first few attacks to get the fortification levels to come down.

Meanwhile...over in the Central Pacific

Now that you have decided on a basic YELLOW strategy, how long until you are ready to assault Wake??

I have 300k supplies in all malaya and an income of c 500 per day but I chickened out I am taking the other bases first and will allow my bombers to do their work...

Malacca to Khota Baru will be taken if I can tempt PZB into reinforcing Singaproe that weakens him somewhere else !!!!

I could hit wake in a week the troops are prepped and ready to go but I am going to hold off until I have troops ready for Marcus and Iwo as well I want to take them on the run and not give PZB a chance to react.

Great News!! I was thinking that you needed to hit him with at least a quick one-two punch at Wake and Marcus.

Do you have enough CV's to form a TF or two and come at Marcus from the East to NE just after you land at Wake?? I would think that PzB will try to reinforce by air transport (or evac) and having them there will destroy them quickly and prepare your way. It will be a difficult ballet to manage, but the payoff's could be worth it!!

I decided to hit several of the annoying bases with B29's out of Darwin for half the Gps that will be the last op in theatre I am moving 3 of the Groups out to CENTPAC where they will remain quiet until I am ready.

I figure if I hit Wake Marcus and Iwo within weeks of each other that will give me the required speed and firepower.

Iwo can be raised to lvl 6 so it CAN take Superforts its not ideal even I wouldnt stack 600 B29's on one lvl 6 base but 200 yup I could base 200 there to begin strat bombing Japan.

I have now managed to concentrate one RAF Gp HQ and 4 RAF base forces in Malaya as well as most of my remaining RAF Sqns ....symbolic perhaps but hey I am a sucker for symbolism !!!

I am still trying to decide the optimal split of ships for each mission

Most of my modern ships will be used on the Centpac operation I will need to leave 4 or 5 CV's in the West just to keep PZB guessing.

I am also moving most of my small AP's and 100 LST's to Rabaul and Townsville to pick up the assault Corps currently residing there.

OK the forces I am leaving behind in the West to keep up the action and try and force the pace.

Saratoga/ Wasp/ Essex/ Tico/ Bennington/ Langley/ San Jacinto/ Belleau Wood and 8 Operational CVE's

I will also leave 4 BB's behind California/Colorado/North Carolina and Washington.

Also Canberra, Shropshire and 6 CL's plus about 75 DD's and 50 DE's

A fairly strong force.

I will also leave 34 AP's/ 103 AK's/ 2 LSD/ 9 LST's/ 53 LCI's/ 10 LSM's and 162 LCT's enough assault lift for 2 - 3 Divisions

So it shouyld be enough to keep up the pace in the West

why such a limited attack on Singapore? Do you not have enough ac in range for a bigger attack or are you concentrating on suppressing other japanese airfields within range of your strike forces?

I have decided for the time being to attack elsewhere Mersing has fallen I expect Kuantan to fall tomorrow and Khota Baru within the week then I will turn round reconcentrate and force the straight.

Until then I am doing the minimum to suppress the AF.

Been a few days my Subs are having some success but PZB has large HK groups out and searching.

Lautern has been suppressed by B29's out of DArwin and tomorrow 1st Aus Cav Div will land to secure the base.

Remember this theatre is now a BLUFF so I need to have lots of activity without overcommitting. (The good news is that as its now a bluff I can operate more freely with the supplies in theatre and not worry to much about re stockpiling !!!)

Plans are to secure a toehold on Timor to help make PZB think that I am trying to secure the corridor for the passage of troops. I will then use forces to secure West and North Borneo all for the purpose of convincing PZB that this is my main strike.

I am VERY encouraged by the sign of 12th Div moving out of the Marianas ----if he is stripping the garrsion of the Marianas down from 400k to say 200k that becomes a VERY attractive possibility.

I have 2 Corps still prepping for Pagan/ Saipan and Tinian so I could go back in quickly after securing the Bonins if I had to.

Remember I need to convice PZB that this is the route I have chosen force him to commit to stop me and then I will cut him off at the knees !!!!

p.s. when I am ready to go for Singapore and I have either Khota or Georgetown fully developed I will bring in 5 Groups of B29's and pound the place to rubble ----

I have calculated with the supplies on hand I can operate 5 B29 Gps for 2 weeks from bases in Malaya without compromising my supply status too much....

2 Weeks of B29's on port or AF attack should be enough to destroy a large chunk of the Japanese supplies in Singapore all the time the 5 B25J Gps and all my FB's will be on Ground attack.

After that lot soften up singapore I have great hopes of being able to take the place with relative ease !!!

Just to give the scale 5 Groups of B29's for 2 weeks will cost me 50,000 supplies........before any ops losses etc thats just operational requirements

�so I will be using 25% of my total on hand supplies for that little attack in B29's alone....
