First, I'm not sure if I should have posted this in the Beta Forums, but this might be a bug (or I just don't understand Canadian rules very well) so I wanted to post it here.

I've been working a custom league with my own custom rules. Its an 8 Man Outdoor league that uses Feildgoal kicking for Punting instead of normal punting. I have a team kick a Feildgoal attempt that was short and my team (the receiving team) recovered the ball in our own endzone and downed it. The program indicated a "Single Point" was scored, but my team (the receiving team) was awarded the Rouge and I had to kickoff the ball to the other team again after my Kick Returner Downed the ball.

I don't know much about Canadian rules, but doesn't the Kicking team get awarded the Single Point and they kickoff to me? Can somebody explain the rouge point rules for me?

In the CFL, if the ball is kicked into the end zone (either a missed field goal or punt) and the receiving team does not return the ball out of the end zone, then the kicking team is awarded a single point and the receiving team scrimmages the ball from the 35 yard line. If the kick was a missed field goal, then receiving team may chose to take the ball at the line of scrimmage where the field goal was attempted.

You can see the actual rule at: http://www.cfl.ca/index.php?module=page&id=9#H

Yes, the team that kicked should have received the rouge (uno in some indoor leagues).

What field size were you using?

I was using 100 yard feild dimensions.  So I take it that this is a bug?

P.S.  Just incase this is a factor in anything (rules or bug), the team Kicking the Feildgoal did miss its extra point before the Rouge Score occured.

Many kicking rules are now connected to the field size you select. Another user has reported that the Canadian specific kicking rules are working as expected but he's using a Canadian field.

The rouge rule should not be effected by field size, but I may have inadvertently done that. Meaning the rule would only work on Canadian fields. I'll check in to that.

Hi.

Can you provide more details on this? How do you have your rules set up? What was the situation in the game when the team made the field goal attempt?

These are the steps I took to try and replicate the problem.

- I started with the stock indoor league.
- Entered Quick Game.
- Changed the stadium to an outdoor one (allowing for a bigger field).
- Changed the rules to: US-P Field, Allow Rouge On, Live Field Goals On. Goal Posts on dead ball line.
- Orlando then attempted a 56 yard field goal which fell short but in the endzone.
- Pheonix downed the ball in the endzone.
- The single point notice was displayed.
- Orlando was given the single point.
- Orlando then kicked off.

So I think I need more information from you in order for me to replicate this.

David, that is pretty much how I had my quick game setup with those perameters.  The only other settings and rules I used was a 30 second play clock with 10 minute quarters, 7 Minute OT Length, PAT attempts at the 5 yard line and 2PAT attempts at the 3 yard line, Kickoff from the 25 yard line.  And of course, I'm using 8 Man per side with a 20 man Roster (setting up my playbooks to handle Ironman rules).  And the leauge is Custom, not stock.

The problem occured when I got to about the 5:00 minute mark of the 1st quarter.  I can't remember the details because I didn't record all what happened, I should have done this and will do so in the future.  I will experiment this again and see if I come up with the same problem.
