OK following my 4 day break there have been developments

40th US Inf Div has landed under the guns of 2 US BB's supported by my Carriers

Pauk seems to be having problems getrting into position to fight with his carriers reacting each and every turn .

Mine have not reacted although I had co ordination issues that lost me some Seafires. Its now the end of May and the first of my war winning carrier aircraft arrive in June RN Corsairs !!!

After one more day of landings to secure Gili Gili I will withdraw the fleet towards PM where it will pick up 3 Divs for transport back to Oz and a rest.

These 2 operations have pretty much exhausted SWPAC's available Assault assets and the need 30 - 60 days rest and re prep.

But it has been worth it PM/ Gili Gili/ Buna and soon Dobedura captured these are top prizes for the allies when added to the alreafy held Gilberts

OK I have been manic at work but its calming down now.

I landed 40th Div but unfortuantely Arizona got caught by a heavy Betty raid and will probably sink.

I expect Gili Gili to fall ASAP - I will try a shock attaqck tomorrow

I have finished off the remaining damaged A/C at Kunming.

My carriers are moving towards PM to replenish at which point I will need to withdraw some ground units to rebuild.

Overall I am pleased with progress so far.

Next time my fleet sorties I will have Corsair IV's on board my RN Carriers.

Pauk is taking lessons from PZB --- insane surface raids that slip away in the dead of night !!!!

I will get him next time.

I am considering a little port raid of my own more to follow if I decide to go for it.....

Victorious and Hornet are in position just deciding whether or not to do it

OK time to reveal the grand strategy....

Pauk has to be hurting for ground forces. China is conquered but those units are tied there.

Burma he knows I have a major offensive under way which has just knocked down the forts of Mandalay again he HAS to reinforce !!!

What he doesnt realise is that I am secretly flying out exhausted Bdes to Calcutta

At present I have 3 Fresh Divs in India and a 4th made of Bdes refitting

He has to be watching Rangoon and Moulmien very carefully and has just committed his para reserves at Akyab.

He still holds Northern Aus that is just a giant POW Camp.

And to top it all off he knows my SWPAC offensive has kicked off leaving NG vulnerable and he has to be watching CENTPAC carefully.

To top it all I just raided Java.....he has to know I am coming for him and that means he has to be sucking reserves in from everywhere......

Now Pauk has proven to me that he WILL not exploit strategic over commitments I can strip India a little barer than I normally would at any stage because he is sitting back so much a littel strategic push in late 42 would have taken me out of my comfort zone on this one !!!!

OK SWPAC will continue to push on aggressively and I will open up a limitede CENTPAC and SOPAC offensive to keep up the pressure on Pauk.

The battle of Mandalay will also continue as planned......

This should keep Pauk occupied while I get the REAL offensive underway......

Phase 1 Indian 33rd Corps (4 Divs) land at TAVOY and VICTORIA POINT and SABANG spearheaded by 50th Indian Para Bde once those bases are secured and aircover is in place Phase 2 Aus 1st Army - 2 Corps (8 Divisons) land at Georgetown and Taiping

The timing will be crucial enough time to secure and open AF's but not enough to allow Pauk to redeploy.....

Lets see how the Croat likes that little lot....

It will take a lot of time and preparation but late 43 is going to be VERY interesting !!!!

If I didn't know better, I would say from this and your other AAR, that you like Malaya.
Is it something personal about that piece of real estate??

What naval assets will you be assigning to cover your new adventure??
CV's??
BB's??

Do you Andaman Island??

Andaman Island is possible

Basically I do like re invading Malaya

1. Pride I dont like losing real estate

The real reason

2. Subs dont work in PBEM the Japanese just are to organised with to many ASW 90+XP planes the Historic sub interdiction just DOES NOT WORK to shut down resource and oil the no 1 place for doing it is Malaya with its big harbour, lots of bases for LBA to attack from, good rail net, some local supply generation and a decent repair yard.

As a forward base for threatening Japan Malaya is unmatched if it can be taken late 43/early 44 - it is easier and less risky than trying the Marianas.

IF it can be taken......

If I go for it it will be everything plus the kitchen sink - no half measures.

Its the Seafires that are getting the job done as interceptors and CAP fighters that climb rate is worth its weight in GOLD (or Fuel in this case)

It really was my screwup not to notice they are running on fumes !!!

Well its 1st blood to the japs Victorious eats lots of torps and goes down because some ****ing USN pilots couldnt learn how to DITCH and not make my nice carrier unoperational

39 aircraft on Victorious after diversions from Yorktown so Victorious despite have 27 OPERATIONAL Seafires and about 12 Wildcats (from Yorktown) on deck couldnt laucnh to defend herself as she was made over the 15% above max level which is 38 ---- I lousy Wildcat to many ditch guys come DITCH

Extremely frustrating as I think I could have survived with my tanker and additional carriers 1 day away

Ah well cest la vie going to get drunk sometimes I hate mechanics in this game all it would have taken is one bright spark to kick one of the Wildcat pieces of junk over the side and I would have had 30 fighters in the air contesting todays battles

In the cold light of day I am still incredibly pissed off about the loss of those Seafires and Victorious sometimes I despair of game mechanics.

I went from a carrier with 24 or 27 (I cannot remember) operational fighters with elite pilots to a floating coffin with 39 !!!!

Personally I am not sure I suspect Yorktown will go down as well the fuel issue is what killed me it was my own stupid fault

Assuming Hornet isnt quick enough to save Yorktown I am not sure

I would rather lose Yorktown than Victorious any day of the week

OK guys time to think through what next.

with the loss of those two carriers I would now need to sut down SWPAC in order to lauch the Burma op and I am not sure it is worth it.

He has 170,000 men at Mandalay so I have achieved the objective of stretching him out I just dont have the carrier power to do what needs to be done especially with the need to cover the Marshalls with carriers.

I think the next step needs to be a

1. CENTPAC offensive against the Marshalls
2. SWPAC moves to isolate Rabaul
3. SEAC keeps up the pressure on Mandalay.

I would prefer to land behind him but I jost dont think it will work

Quiet couple of turns I am starting to move FT TF's to Gili Gili and amphibs toi PH and Suva

I am short of ground forces for the assault on the Gilberts - 7 Divs are available 3 at Suva prepping for Maloep, 1 at PH/Palmyra and Baker prepping for Mili

I have 1 more but its not really available being tied to guarding my flanks at Narau and Nanomoe

I think us Armchair General/Admiral's need a screen shot of Burma and some more details on the force disposition over there. It looks like Mandalay is not going to fall with a head on attack.
Need to think about by-passing it for now, if possible.

Not really a lot to report all is quiet at present 10 days till Hellcats

Pauk just made a joke asking if I intend to use Hellcats on CVE's ---as though I could afford to I get 144 per month in a pdu game where Hellcat/Wildcats dont upgrade to corsairs ....

I fully expect to have Wildcats on CV's in 44 never mind Hellcats on CVE's !!!!!
