This saturday is the Iron Bowl. It has no bearing whatsoever on this game, but this tradition goes to the soul of all us Alabamians. On another board, unrelated to gaming geeks such as us, I ran across a post that I felt I had to share with ya'll. This is the South, and God Bless the SEC! quote:
OldSchoolTiger Post #1: 10:30 pm Well folks...after all the talk, all the hype, and a long, long season, we're finally here. The Iron Bowl. Auburn vs. Alabama. The biggest and best rivalry in college football. Most people outside of Alabama don't really get it. Certainly most people outside of the SEC don't have a clue. I really believe that no matter what the records, no matter what's on the line, it doesn't get any better (or bigger) than this. I was taught a long time ago that all excuses are equal. So with that being said, no excuses. I really wish Auburn was healthy. Irons at 25%, Cox at 50%, do we have a center yet? What are you gonna do? I LOVE AUBURN. I love early on Saturday morning on the plains. I love the smell of the cut grass from Jordan Hare or Jordan Denny stadium. I love that at 8:00 am I can pull up to a red light and by a gameday program. I love going to the bookstore to buy more clothes and hats and pictures and books that I don't need and can't justify to my wife. She doesn't really understand either. Never has. Never will. I love hearing the highway patrol sirens in the distance when the team buses are approaching the stadium. I love the buzz in the crowd. I love Tiger Walk. I love Auburn people and their love for Auburn. I love that Auburn people (like Coach Dye) fought for Auburn and fought for this game to be played in Auburn half the time. I love 1989 and "First Time Ever." The first time Bama had to come to Auburn after years of swearing they never would, and then rolling into that game 10-0 and rolling out 10-1. God that was great. I love the fact that Auburn and Auburn people stood their ground, and despite plots and "greasing" of the wheels, Auburn Finally got to play Bama at Auburn. And guess what else...I love playing Bama at Tuscaloosa! I love it. The sheer numbers tell us that eventually Auburn will have to lose a game in Tuscaloosa. Is it this year? Is it this year? I don't know. But I do know this. I wouldn't count on an Auburn loss. You see, when an institution has been up against as much as Auburn has over the years, with the big money Bama has had for recruitng and building their program, you get used to being the underdog. You learn to handle the adversity. And that is why no matter what happens on Saturday, no matter what the records are, no matter what the score, Auburn will always and forever be better than Bama. There is no comparison. Win or lose. All you have to do to understand it is to read a post from "skscan't post." Then it makes sense. See you Saturday Bama...in your house...one more time. There's nothing more dangerous than a wounded Tiger. I absolutely can't wait. War D-a-m-n Eagle!!!!!
