This saturday is the Iron Bowl. It has no bearing whatsoever on this game, but this tradition goes to the soul of all us Alabamians. On another board, unrelated to gaming geeks such as us, I ran across a post that I felt I had to share with ya'll. This is the South, and God Bless the SEC!

OldSchoolTiger Post #1: 10:30 pm

Well folks...after all the talk, all the hype, and a long, long season, we're finally here. The Iron Bowl. Auburn vs. Alabama. The biggest and best rivalry in college football. Most people outside of Alabama don't really get it. Certainly most people outside of the SEC don't have a clue. I really believe that no matter what the records, no matter what's on the line, it doesn't get any better (or bigger) than this. I was taught a long time ago that all excuses are equal. So with that being said, no excuses. I really wish Auburn was healthy. Irons at 25%, Cox at 50%, do we have a center yet? What are you gonna do? I LOVE AUBURN. I love early on Saturday morning on the plains. I love the smell of the cut grass from Jordan Hare or Jordan Denny stadium. I love that at 8:00 am I can pull up to a red light and by a gameday program. I love going to the bookstore to buy more clothes and hats and pictures and books that I don't need and can't justify to my wife. She doesn't really understand either. Never has. Never will. I love hearing the highway patrol sirens in the distance when the team buses are approaching the stadium. I love the buzz in the crowd. I love Tiger Walk. I love Auburn people and their love for Auburn. I love that Auburn people (like Coach Dye) fought for Auburn and fought for this game to be played in Auburn half the time. I love 1989 and "First Time Ever." The first time Bama had to come to Auburn after years of swearing they never would, and then rolling into that game 10-0 and rolling out 10-1. God that was great. I love the fact that Auburn and Auburn people stood their ground, and despite plots and "greasing" of the wheels, Auburn Finally got to play Bama at Auburn. And guess what else...I love playing Bama at Tuscaloosa! I love it. The sheer numbers tell us that eventually Auburn will have to lose a game in Tuscaloosa. Is it this year? Is it this year? I don't know. But I do know this. I wouldn't count on an Auburn loss. You see, when an institution has been up against as much as Auburn has over the years, with the big money Bama has had for recruitng and building their program, you get used to being the underdog. You learn to handle the adversity. And that is why no matter what happens on Saturday, no matter what the records are, no matter what the score, Auburn will always and forever be better than Bama. There is no comparison. Win or lose. All you have to do to understand it is to read a post from "skscan't post." Then it makes sense. See you Saturday Bama...in your house...one more time. There's nothing more dangerous than a wounded Tiger. I absolutely can't wait. War D-a-m-n Eagle!!!!!

And ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - TIDE - ROLL!

While we are on the subject of "idiots" - I'd say that anyone who is an Auburn fan qualifies. And part of the Axis of Evil!

Although - I strongly agree - God bless the SEC!

By the way - AU Tiger - where are you located? I'm in Huntsville.

Perhaps a friendly wager is in order? In a PBEM, the loser has to play as the Yankees. You do realize however, that we are undefeated in Jordan-Denny stadium?

Another Iron Bowl is in the books, and I now have ulcers to contend with....

Andy, I look forward to battling you with my Army of the Confederacy.

WOW! The GE-AXE Tigers had a close one! OT with Ole Miss!
I understand though, I was at the Auburn - Ole Miss game, and those Rebels played their hearts out, but they just don't have the depth to win against a top-echelon team. You have to respect them though, sorta like Vandy.

Now that the two best teams have played, we'll have who knows how many months arguing who is really No 1?

I wrote a couple of Limericks for a good friend of mine who happens to be a Bama fan - poor misguided girl. She also votes the wrong way, but I won't go into that! Anyway, she liked them (she hates the coach, a fairly common sentiment since Mississippi State), and felt I should share:

There once was a coach who was rather dumb,
And even his players thought him a bum.
The boys made it a fight,
The score was kept tight,
But in the end all he brought home was the thumb.

There once was a coach without a thought in his head,
His players all clad in crimson red,
The fourth in a row,
Was the final blow,
The pronouncement being his program was dead.

Bad news for Bama.

Kodi Burns has committed for Auburn. The following link shows him playing as a high school junior. i.e. a year ago. Even those uninitiated to the magic of American Football will see the talent in this kid. (No. 5 in red.)

Q: How many Bama fans does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: Four. One to change the bulb, and three to talk about how great the old one was.

As long as we are all hanging around beating our...F5....keys, I figured we might as well start a little football pool. The SEC championship game is this saturday, so all of the local SEC representatives give us your guesses (The other lesser conferences such as the Big Easy, PAC-1, Big-2, Conference LoUSy, etc. are free to pitch in.)

Arkansas - 31
Florida - 27

The representative from The Ohio State University calls Arkansas 35, Florida 21. Florida is hurting.
