Ooops, now I'm in trouble with the wife

Did Mynock slip you an implant too?

She came home from work 3 hours ago, the first thing she said was 'What's for tea?' She didn't look too impressed with the answer of 'I don't know' She's gone upstairs and not said a word to me since then It can only end in trouble...

The correct answer is "I don't know...what are you going to make for us"

Confounded colonials...

We gave you McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Rap music (Sorry about that last one).

Who is colonizing who?

Why do you think you are confounded colonials, your burger outlets have almost destroyed Britains native fast food traditions: Jellied Eels

Yum! As good as they sound...

For a nation that ruled most of the world it amazes me that you never bothered to learn a recipie or two from the natives. There is a reason no one ever says "I feel like British food tonight". I doubt even a Brit would say this.

Are the eels served with "chips" or "Mash"?

This is why you need to find one with a sense of humor. I have survived several recent comments about my wife being barefoot (although no longer pregnant) in the kitchen. She just laughes it off.

Exactly. Take it from a person who has spent the last 4 night sitting up thinking how he screwed up. I have a great perspective on this at the moment.

Agreed. If my GF didn't have a sense of humor she'd have killed me a long time ago.

Quite probably. However, that's not my fault. She's old enough to look after herself, and she doesn't listen to my suggestions on work relations, so it's her own fault. But I got in far too much trouble last time I pointed that out so I kept quiet tonight.

And I'm still in trouble.

As corney as it is try reading that men are from Mars book. Take it from a guy on wife #2, it will give you a lot of insight on how they think. Several of the agruments in the book were word for word what I had with the ex. Think of it as a combination owner's manual and translation guide.

Maybe she feels the silence is a big "I told you so". That's the way my GF unit would feel about it. That's why I go and spend 15 miutes with her being nice. Then I sneak of and play some WitP.

If she is in the kitchen she had better be cooking or cleaning

There is quite a lot of foreign food that is common in the UK, mostly stuff from the east. Stuff like curry has been common here for donkey's years. Not forgetting that most wonderful of beverages brought back from the Orient/India...Tea
A lot of the food in the UK has stayed regional, e.g Cornish Pasties, Jellied Eels, Haggis

Jellied eels are most commonly served on their own IIRC, I'm not from the area of the country where they are common. Pie is often served with mash. Chips=fish or sausages.

The silence doesn't bother me. Women seem to think that silence is a punishment, whereas most men enjoy the silence.

After 4 nights of deep reflection, I've decided that all my problems stem from the fact that I'm a self-absorbed ass, not so much from the fact that I dont understand women. Somewhere subconciously I know exactly what will hurt her, what I need to say to make thing better and when I need to keep my Thread damned mouth shut. Why dont I act on it? Probably because I'm a self-absorbed ass.

As a tea toddler I am thankfull for your love of tea.

I swear there must be a law in New Jersey that says that every strip mall must contain a Chinese food place and a pizza place. The pizza place must be named "Tony's" or "Brothers" and the #7 combo at the Chinese place must be beef and broccoli. Names for the Chinese place may be "China moon" or "China palace"

Fortuently on the East Coast we have every kind of food to choose from from Greek to Indian, to Thai. Still...no British.

I now have a retirement plan. I'll move to the US and open a chain of 'Not so fast' food restaurants. I'll serve pies, pasties and jellied eels, with a choice of teas for drinks.
I shall call them...Mrs Miggins Pie Shops, or to cater for the American market Ye Olde Mrs Miggins Pie Shoppes

Much better with the name change.

Of course you could also buy an old warehouse, hire a minimalist decorator, find a bunch of young 20 somethings with nothing better to do and serve them jellied eel and martinis, making sure to charge at least $50 a head to get in and making sure to arbitrarily turn away 1 in 5 customers, you will be a huge success.

There should be some sort of dress code.  Pinstripe and bowler hats, or tweed?  I could also open a store selling those next door, I'd be rich!
