Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say well done to the development team and testers for what is looking like a potential winning game. Ive been following the info on this game for awhile and thought I better say hello as I was starting to feel like a perverted stalker. I had previously purchased CoG and it was almost there for me but just fell short, where this fella looks like it has addressed those short comings.

The thing I love about these history games as well is it has got me reading up on the details of the Civil War. Being from Australia my knowledge is a little sketchy. However, I know Jeff Daniels was in Gettysburg and I can sing the chorus of 'look away' (but sadly not the verse).

So anyway, thanks for all the info - especially the PBEM AAR stuff, its wet my appetite and I eagerly await the download.

If you want to learn a bit about the war, get Bruce Catton's book. If you want to learn ALOT about the war, get Shelby Foote's 3-volume set. After that you might be hooked...

AU Tiger,

Cheers for the advice.  I just bought a book by Geoffrey Ward titled the civil war - an illustrated history of war between the states.  Its pretty comprehensive, but Ill keep a look out for Bruce Catton.  I actually saw the 3 volumne set by Foote in my local book store, but I don't think my brain could hold that much information.

No offense intended, but any book on the war that has "Illustrated" in its title is going to be rather superficial. Bite the bullet, get the Foote trilogy, buy a good map of the Eastern USA, follow along, and join the obsession.

If you have any questions about the war, there are MANY of us here who have overly detailed knowledge of the conflict, and I have walked most of the major battlefields as probably many here have done. Feel free to ask away...

Sure, but an "illustrated" book, if done right, can set the tone in ways that a book consisting of nothing but words cannot. So, thumb through the illustrated book and then read Catton or Foote.

Ratters72, good to have you aboard!
