Rob has been busy. These are first passes without modifications to the map data files. So the raillines that run over water will be tweaked to keep them dry.

It's not really clear to me where one desert ends and the next one starts. Sand is sand, isn't it?

The northern part of this was shown before. Does anyone have names for the unlabelled rivers?

No, no, we are not done yet! New hebrides, New Caledonia, and Fiji. I have always had trouble mentally placing these in the South Pacific.

New Zealand - North Island.

A couple of years ago our chorus performed in New Zealand. We took a bus tour from Auckland to Wellington that went by Lake Taupo and Mt Orodruin - one brave soul (fool) did a bunge jump somewhere along that route (the high point of the trip for him). I learned that there are a lot of different types of sheep, and temporaily sated my cravings for lamb (curry, sandwiches, entree avec mint jelly).

New Zealand - South Island. The chorus performed in Christchurch too and many members took a tour of the south island (I headed home to Honolulu).

15th and last in series, an overview of the new map segment completed by Rob. Patrice will review and correct the map data (he probably is doing that already). If you have comments, this would be a very good time to make them.

I was gonna ask where's Mordor but as always you're a step ahead of us! If that gets edited out it could make a nice easter egg...

Thank Patrice, he's doing the labels.

What do you mean with "if that gets edited" ?
I intended this label (Mount Doom) to be an Easter Egg, isn't it one ??

He probably is expecting something that is hard to see, but if "clicked on" reveals a more elaborate image.

But I have no time for that, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

Just a fun idea. I just figured those two fun labels might be for the draft version only, I wouldn't spend time on it either. Easter Eggs refer to things in software or DVD's that are a little bit hidden.

The Lakes Entrance hex (The forest/beach hex two to the east of Melbourne) needs to be swamp for reasons I posted earlier in this thread - because the lakes extend practically the full width of the hex's beach just a few hundred metres across the dunes from the beach. I've been there and seen it, and it would be a nightmare place to stage an invasion - you'd beach your landing craft, then immediately have to cross another body of water...

Alice Springs needs to be added as a point of resupply in outback Australia - its importance as a point of supply here is far, far in excess of its listed population. I can't emphasise this enough!

But, does this makes warrant a swamp hex ?

OK, so this falls in the "If someone ever thinks this makes a difference, they're wrong" category -

Is Tasmania supposed to be part of the Australian Home Country?  I'm not sure how the WiF RAW about territory labelling applies in MWiF (esp. wrt map resolution), but you can walk a MAR there from Canberra.

From the West going east:
Fitzroy, Drysdale, Ord, Victoria, daly, east alligator, goomadeer, goyder and the roper (the river with the 2 headstreams).
There are a bucket load of rivers in the goomadeer/ goyder area and I chose the 2 that looked the biggest.

East Alligator, a favorite place for kids to swim, I assume.

You seriously do not want to go swimming up here. There are no alligators but there are crocodiles. "Fresh water crocs" are ok but the "Salt water crocs" (Crocodylus porosus) are very nasty. Every few months there are stories of tourists who go swimming where they shouldn't or even go too close to the water/ river bank and then become croc bait.. To make it even more difficult the salties are not confines to salt water and definately inhabit the fresh water river system. The largest one ever known was shot in 1957. It was 8.63 meters (28.3 feet) long and weighed over 2000 kg (4400 lb). Bloody big.
