Yeah - i hit one once (on Xmas day) - cost several hundred dollars in repairs for about 40 pounds of meat (no, i didn't use it, but the same friend who likes squirrel meat said that if i ever hit a deer to collect it and bring it to him, so it did... )

It gets served weekly on the highway I drive to work every day. Sometimes multiple courses......

Martians generally have linear weeks: it gets gradually better towards the end. I've heard that the military has a pretty flat line, however, so that may explain your confusion, Mike.

What about overseas possessions...You guys coming or what?

In time.

FYI, in looking more closely at the map, I'm confused by the "Spanish Possessions" location. I'm probably forgetting some historical treaty, but I'm 100% sure that we got the stuff west of the Mississippi from France, not Spain. Did Boney nab that from Spain or something?

Spain had Florida. Now Mexico has the US South West

I'm currently reading the unabridged diaries of Lewis and Clark (very slowly). In the forward they discuss the Louisana purchase. As I recal the land was purchased from France who had acquired it from Spain just prior to the sale(hope I don't have that backwards). Perhaps that is why the map reads the way it does. I think the Louisana purchase was really more of a three way deal between France, Spain and the US.

From the wikipedia:

quote:

Napolean Bonaparte returned Louisiana to French control from Spain in 1800, under the Treaty of San Ildefonso (Louisiana had been a Spanish colony since 1762). However, the treaty was kept secret, and Louisiana remained under Spanish control until a transfer of power to France. The transfer finally took place on November 30, 1803, just three weeks before the cession to the U.S.

"Smear of Deer"

That phrase reminds me of a game I played as a boy. Anyone recall the game "Smear the queer?"...not a very PC name I know and I don't know why it was called that.

The game required getting a bunch of boys together (the more the better) and tossing a football into the air (an american football, preferably a nerf) then all the boys would try to catch said football. The boy lucky/skillful enough to catch it instantly became "it" and all the other boys instantly tried to tackle him. The point of the game was to get away and be "it" for as long as possible, but it usually ended with the boy being tackled and piled upon in about 0.5 seconds.

That explains a lot niceguy.  How many times were you "it" and had most of the guys land on your head?

A lot. I was very good at jumping and catching and very bad at running away.

Everytime I see a football now I swear I can catch the scent of grass being rubbed into my nose.

PS, the GF unit think that explains a lot too.

Mike, surely you played a similar game as a kid. I thought this was an American classic.

Edit: There are a few lapses in memory of my past though....

That's too bad, you really missed out on some fun.

When I became friends with a kid that moved to town from the Midwest, he tried to teach us Kick The Can. We all thought he was crazy.

Before I was married I dated a woman with real implants. Not the same as the real think but I did not care.

This is the remote I would like to run Mynok's implant for my wife:
