what is not being seen, is the 3 Union Arty Bdes that have been knocked out (and they did major damage)

night fall will be welcome, I need to clear the smoke and reform my lines

and shift my main line of attack, the south is shot, I got the end flanked, but can not close in

Bloody

Night has fallen

the line near Wardville has started to crack and I have been able to rush a few Bdes in

my snipers have been able to get into clear terrain, the center will not hold for long come morning

in the north, I see a gap in the line and gamble and rush the line, the first Bde gets in with not reaction, the 2nd Bde comes in and gets flanked, E. Johnson, one of my 3 star Corps Commanders is killed

in the south, the line is holding, my Arty fires and fires, but does no major damage, my diggers have now come forward to dig out a defence line for my Arty to move into, the closer range may help me crack the south

I have had 4 Bdes broken, the Union has lost 17, but have been reinforced with at least another Div

this may be a 3 day battle, and may, last till the end

the Union start some major night attacks, even worse when they are with in there dugouts, my diggers in the south do not do well

I shift one of my Snipers to the north and one of my big guns goes along, the last watch tower finally falls so that frees up some more troops

but the center is ready for the rush

the far north was a mistake, find out later tha the line did not end !, I should of stuck to the center

once the center broke, I would of been able to force the battle to end by taking the VP, instead I went toe to toe, with a lot more union troops then I thought

the Union pulled in troops I did not expect

I ended up fighting the 3 AOPs and the Army of Kentucky

bloody

I lost 15963 troops, while the Union lost 30670

I backed off, and went back home to Fredericksburg, should of Marched on Washington, there only 27000 men there, but those troops in Anni worry me

plus, I need better weapons :)

besides, my seige army is still being built up

Which, in hindsight, or 2nd sight, or is that 6th ? I think I knew what was going to happen

I pulled back to Fredersburg, and the AOP marched on Fredersburg, not sure who is in Command of the Union Army anymore, but I think someone made a blunder

now this is the strongest defence area, I have ever built, I love this set up, of course, that mean the AI will attack the other side of the line, but if it doesn't

got a hill line, that flanks one of my 2 forts, I got line of troops with either muskets or minnies at the base of the hill, with a Sniper with Lorenzs and a Bde of Big Guns, on the inside of the hill, is another big gun Bde, and farther down the line another one, which is ancored by the fort, with a reserve of Cav

I am a little weak in the middle, but, with 2 forts and my Guns, I don't think anything is too weak

that battle where you were the attacker and the federals were dug in, can you tell me how they took double your losses?

It seams casulties in this game could be WAY off

Part of it is they broke, and I was able to maul them when they broke

also, on the northern flank, they came out of the line to attack, to take some pressure off the middle

plus I was able to break his 3 Heavy Guns, before they did more damage (they did take out a couple of my Bdes)

also, you may see, in the south I was able to do almost nothing, so I didn't force it, I couldn't break the line there, so didn't try to, but by staying in place, so did the Union

a number of the units in the middle, I shot to death, and then was able to close in, and trap other units in place, where they would have to either surrender, or die in place
2/3s of the losses came from the middle

and in the middle, I had 4 Heavy Guns, 3 snipers and most of my shock troops

which if I could fight that battle over, I would of shifted more of my middle and northern forces to the south

and if that was the case, maybe I shouldn't post the next screen then

the battle is over, the Union broke, I was not able to punish them much in the north, a little in the middle, but the south, they had a lot of bad ground to cover and took some heavy losses on the retreat

Yea hard i think that casultiy system needs to be worked on, only when troops surrender en mass (ie armies getting captured) are losses that onesided even with attrition or desertion.

Fredricksburg was one of the rare battles where casulties was a 2-1.
